Four children and three adults were being treated this morning after a car broadsided a school bus on U.S. 61 South.
Vicksburg Warren School District bus driver Zela Major, 43, 1067 Ross Lane, and her daughter, bus monitor Robin Major, 24, 1116 Fayette St.; along with the only passengers on the bus, Deondra Johnson, 5, Jasmine Rowan, 9, and Courtney Wilson, 5, were all taken to ParkView Regional Medical Center.
Also being treated were Darryl White, 38, P.O. Box 789, Port Gibson, and his 12-year-old daughter, Ebony White.
Although Major is pregnant, sources said no one appeared to be seriously hurt.
The bus was headed west after leaving Signal Hill Drive when a Nissan Sentra driven by White struck its side, Lt. David Beard of the Vicksburg Police Department said.
“The car hit right behind the front wheel of the bus and went partially underneath the bus,” Beard said.
No citations had been issued in the 7:20 a.m. wreck, but Beard added the wreck was still under investigation.
He asked for anyone who witnessed the wreck to call Vicksburg police at 636-2511.
