EUGENE GIBBS SR.

Services for Eugene Gibbs Sr. will be at noon Thursday at Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Williams Funeral Service.

Mr. Gibbs died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at his home.

He was 77.

He was a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church and retired as a truck driver from Anderson-Tully Co.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Adeline Allen; his father, Edmond Gibbs; a son, Earl Thomas; a daughter, Sarah Gibbs; four sisters, Mozella Wilson, Mattie Grant, Emma Lee and Ethel Grant; and three brothers, Alonzo Grant, Johnnie Grant and Willie Majors.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Gibbs of Vicksburg; six sons, Eugene Gibbs Jr., the Rev. Edmond Gibbs, David Gibbs, Richard Gibbs and Willie Cox, all of Vicksburg, and Calvin Sampson of Chicago; 12 daughters, Vivian Butler, Dorothy Rhodes, Mamie Cook, Beverly Carson, Carol Gibbs and Helen Mace, all of Vicksburg, Kathy Gibbs and Velma Gibbs, both of Texas, Dorothy Pearson and Helen Jackson, both of Rolling Fork, and Diane Lampkin and Helen Burse, both of Chicago; four stepdaughters, Terri Ann Brown, Lisa Anderson, Stephanie Ross and Sharmeen Ross, all of Vicksburg; a sister, Sarah Singleton of Chicago; 48 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
