GROCERY EMPLOYEES ROBBED AT GUNPOINT

Vicksburg Police were searching this morning for two men they say robbed employees at County Market at gunpoint, Detective Randy Naylor said.
Naylor said two men, who apparently hid in the store until the manager locked the door at 12:18 this morning, approached the three employees in the store and demanded money.
One of the men was armed with a sawed-off shotgun and the other, with a semi-automatic weapon, Naylor said.
Naylor said the men put handcuffs on two of the employees and used tape to tie up the other worker.
After taking money from the safe, the two men fled the store, and police were summoned.
JEWELRY IS MISSING AT SCOTTISH INN ON CLAY
A wedding band was among the items reported missing Wednesday by a guest at Scottish Inn on East Clay Street, Vicksburg Police officer Beverly Prentiss said.
A woman staying at the hotel at 3955 Clay St., told police that her diamond wedding band and earrings, valued at $344, were missing from her room, Prentiss said.
ARREST MADE AFTER CAR BURGLARIES REPORTED
Vicksburg Police arrested a man on charges of grand larceny and auto burglary this morning, said Beverly Prentiss, public information officer.
Howard L. Brooks, 27, no address available, was arrested by Patrolmen John Roland, Mack Richards and David LaSalle and Detective Randy Naylor and Sgt. Todd McBroom after two auto burglaries were reported at Hampton Inn this morning, Prentiss said.
Brooks was in the Warren County Jail this morning.
COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH STATUTORY RAPE
A Warren County man was arrested and charged with statutory rape Wednesday, Detective Johnny Beauchamp said.
Jay M. Johnson, 23, 508 Newit Vick Drive, was arrested by Beauchamp and Deputy James Carter after the brother of a 14-year-old girl reported his sister had been assaulted, Beauchamp said.
Johnson was in the Warren County Jail this morning.
