Burn bans lifted

The ban on outdoor burning imposed in Warren County and Vicksburg in August has been lifted.
The countywide order was imposed after supervisors received permission to do so from the Mississippi Forestry Commission. Extreme dry conditions meant even well-controlled fires might spread.
By Wednesday, 1.59 inches of rain had been measured in the gauge at the Vicksburg harbor over the past seven days. As a result, the Vicksburg Fire Department resumed issuing outdoor burn permits required for any brush or trash fires set in the city limits.
Officials said the bans will be reimposed if dry conditions resume.
