Vehicles on U.S. 61 North speed past the construction site of River Region Health System’s new hospital, illuminated by lights hung from the steel frame of the 432,000-square-foot building. Although the parent corporation of River Region, Quorum Health Group, is in the process of being sold to Triad Hospitals Inc., the construction project will not be affected, hospital officials have said, and work is on schedule for a completion date in the summer of 2002. The new health care facility will replace the building now occupied by ParkView Regional Medical Center and allow other uses at River Region’s other facility, Vicksburg Medical Center. The new building is expected to cost $112 million. (The Vicksburg Post/PAT SHANNAHAN)
