[04/06/01] Aaron George pitched a complete game and allowed just one run on seven hits to lead St. Aloysius to a key Division 7-1A win over Puckett, 2-1, on Thursday.
The Flashes (14-1, 10-0) scored single runs in the first and third innings both on George RBI singles and quashed several Puckett (11-4) rallies. Blake Warnock scored both Flashes’ runs.
The Wolves had the bases loaded twice with no outs.
“We were able to squeeze some hits out and get a couple runs,” St. Al coach Joe Graves said. “Unless something dramatic happens, the knocks Puckett (out of the playoff hunt).”
St. Al is one game ahead of Lake in the race for the division title with a matchup with Sebastapol today. The matchup with Lake, which Graves said will most likely decide the division championship, is April 14.
WC 7, Natchez 2
Tyler DeRossette hit a monstrous home run and Kyle Simmons got the win for WC (24-1).
