Ashanka Stagg of San Francisco runs along the northbound shoulder of U.S. 61 South with a torch in hand for the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run Monday. There are nine members on each team with each person running about 10 miles a day, passing the “Peace Torch” between runners across 50 states. The Peace Run is held every two years and emphasizes racial harmony and peace in all cities as a building block for world peace through sports. The Peace Runners were on their way to Fairview, Ark., where they will continue their journey across the United States. (The Vicksburg Post/MELANIE DUNCAN)
