Ten-year-old Evan Hixson is launched from the new two-flume slide at the Ver Beck YMCA Pavilion Saturday. The pool is the first at a YMCA in the state to have this type of slide, Director Herb Wilkerson said. Evan and his two siblings enjoyed swimming with their mother, Vickie Hixson, before light showers came around noon. The Ver Beck Pavilion has one of three YMCA pools in Vicksburg and Warren County.
