Services for Alma Martin will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cool Spring M.B. Church with the Rev. Byron Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Martin died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 87.

A homemaker, Mrs. Martin was a member of Cool Spring M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Neacy Fox; two brothers, Oscar Fox and Bennie Fox; and three sisters, Daisy Williams, Josephine Bell and Maggie Redmond.

She is survived by a sister, Neacy Ella Brown of Chicago; nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Alma Taylor, Helen Bowman and Mary Alice Kearney, all of Vicksburg, Julia Carey, Daisy Bell and Barbara Cox, all of Chicago, Eddie Mae Jackson of Dallas, and Odessa Rodgers of River Forest, Ill.

BETTY CAGLE MURPHY

UTICA Betty Cagle Murphy died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 66.

A homemaker, Mrs. Murphy was a native of Hinds County and was a longtime resident of Utica. She was a member of Utica Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two sons, Tommy Gordon of Jackson, Richard Lambert of Goldsboro, S.C.; her daughter, Mary Ann Graham of Jackson; her brother, Tommy Cagle of Clinton; her mother, Ruby Cagle of Utica; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.

KELDRICK LASHON SMITH

FAYETTE Keldrick Lashon Smith died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fayette. He was 25.

Mr. Smith was born in Adams County and was a graduate of Jefferson County High School. He was a member of Waterloo Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Willie West Smith.

Survivors include his parents, Roger and Minnie Suddeth of Fayette; his paternal grandfather, Roger Council of Fayette; his maternal grandmother, Harriet Smith of Lorman; two brothers, Jarvis Suddeth and Roger Suddeth, both of Fayette; two sisters, Trinicia Suddeth and Tonia Suddeth, both of Fayette; and other relatives and friends, including Roger Smith of Port Gibson, Benard Smith of Fayette and Willie W. Smith of Lorman.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jefferson County High School in Fayette with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 6 p.m. Friday at Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be Chris Gales, Dexter Hayes, Travis Council, Albert Payton, Chris Reed, Anthony Walton, Roger Smith, Benard Smith and Willie West Smith Jr.

GLADYS J. WATSON

PORT GIBSON Gladys J. Watson died Monday, June 4, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 64.

Mrs. Watson retired as a teacher from Claiborne County Schools. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she was on the Mother Board.

She received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Alcorn State University.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.W. Watson Jr.; her parents, O.W. and Hannah Turner Davis; a brother, Theodore R. Turner; and a stepdaughter, Celia Rose Snyder.

Survivors include two sons, Terrance Watson and Dexter Watson, both of Port Gibson; three sisters, Velma T. Barnes and Dorothy T. Collins, both of Port Gibson, and Beulah M. Patten of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren, including Darren Snyder; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church of Port Gibson with Pastor Leon Nelson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Scott Memorial Cemetery.

Family hour will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Saturday at Rollins Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Martin Jr., Marcus Jones, Donald Reeves, Richard Washington, Lee Dell Buck and James Curry.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Deacon Board at Second Baptist Church.

EDITH MARY WILLIAMS

Services for Edith Mary “Edie Mae” Williams will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Standfield M.B. Church with the Rev. John Henry Williams Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mrs. Williams died Monday, June 4, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 69.

A homemaker, Mrs. Williams was a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lee Taylor; her father, Willie Marshall; a sister, Gloria Williams; and two grandsons, Jeffery Blanton and Derrick Blanton.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary L. Marshall Calvin, Gloria J. Marshall Givens and Rosalind V. Williams, all of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Eddie Calvin Jr. and Benjamin Givens, both of Vicksburg.
