LEONARD M. JONES

Leonard M. Jones died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 73.

A native of Helena, Ark., Mr. Jones had lived in Vicksburg for the past 16 years. He retired from the U.S. Army and from Mohawk Rubber Company. He was employed as a security guard with Vicksburg Medical Center. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Odell R. Jones of Vicksburg; two sons, Daniel Jones of Vicksburg and William R. Ruston of Memphis; his daughter, Linda Johnson of Vicksburg; his brother, Virgil Jones of Larson, Ark.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services with full military honors were at 2 p.m. Monday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Clemts officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

WOODROW THOMAS

Woodrow Thomas died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at his home. He was 83.

A native of Claiborne County, Mr. Thomas was a member of the Baptist faith and retired employee of Bechtel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Zelma Thomas, and a sister, Lucy Thomas Dorsey.

He is survived by his wife Lucille Morrow Thomas of Vicksburg; three sons, James Thomas and Allen Nicholson Jr., both of Vicksburg and Allen Nicholson Sr., of Chino Hills, Calif.; four daughters, Beulah Mae Thomas of San Diego, Calif., Willie Funches of Los Angeles, Katina Collins of Gainesville, Fla., and Beatrice Collins of Vicksburg; two sisters, Lucy Thomas and Beulah Thomas, both of Natchez; two cousins, James Jackson of Vicksburg and Joseph Wright of Detroit; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at New Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Nicholson Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
