MARY V. CONERLY

Mary V. Conerly died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Conerly was born in Holden, La., but had been a resident of Utica most of her life. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Utica.

She is survived by two sons, Lee Conerly and Steve Conerly, both of Utica; three brothers, Troy Vessell and David Vessell, both of Utica, and Johnny Vessell of Columbus; a sister, Nell Guffey of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Conerly will be at 2 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica with the Rev. Marshall Killcrease officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bill Carraway, Jason Dean, Randy Vessell, Harvey Skelton, Jerry Parrett and Herbert Hysaw.

GEORGE E. BATES

Services for George E. Bates will be at 2 p.m. today at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Caley Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Canton City Cemetery in Canton.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. today until the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Bates died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 88.

Mr. Bates had lived in Vicksburg for five years and was the former owner of Bates Army Surplus in Morton. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Morton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ella Bates, and a granddaughter, Betsy Stewart.

He is survived by his wife, Fay D. Bates of Vicksburg; his daughters, Mary Ellen Flowers of Vicksburg and Patricia Stewart of Fairborn, Ohio; a son, Albert Dell Bates of Rockingham, N.C.; a brother, Claude Bates of Pisgah; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Todd Bates, Jimmy Flowers, Greg Bates, John H. Stewart Jr., Carl Flowers and John H. Stewart Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Marcus Stanley and Dr. Abdul Bahro.

DENZIL FALLS

TUPELO n Denzil Falls died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was 65.

Mr. Falls was born in Itawamba County to Marvin S. Falls and Edna Corinne Cody. He was a retired saw filer and a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Falls of Tremont, Miss.; a daughter, Vicky Williams of Brandon; three sons, Tony Falls of Tremont, Tim Falls of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and T.C. Falls of Vicksburg; one sister, Gayra Thompson of Amory; a brother, V.L. Falls of Fulton; four grandchildren, Prissy Falls, Jake Falls, Jeremy Falls and Allie Falls; nieces; and nephews.

Services for Mr. Falls will be at 1 p.m. today at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Tom Johnson and Dee Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wade Falls, Chuck Johnson, Mark Mayhall, Rodney Gann, Phillip Kent, Bill Love, Harry Stone Jr., David Sabine, Jason Harris and Danny David.

Honorary pallbearers are Thomas John Falls, Keith Kent, Rufus Gann, Eunice Mayhall, Vernon Hadaway, Gerald Kent, Jerry Wiygul, Mutt Kent, Jeff Buse, Phillip Buse, David Thompson, John Thompson and Jim Williams.

DOROTHY NEAL

Services for Dorothy Neal will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at New Life Church with the Rev. Steven Mainous officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be all day Wednesday at Robbins Funeral Home Chapel and at the church Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

Mrs. Neal died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001 at her home. She was 54.

She was a native of Hinds County but made her home in Vicksburg. She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of New Life Church.

Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by her husband, David Neal; her parents, Lamar Lloyd and Geraldine Burse; and a sister, Linnie Lloyd Lenoir.

She is survived by a daughter, Alisha Johnson of Vicksburg; four sisters, Lillie Lloyd, Shirley Lloyd and Helen Mace, all of Vicksburg, and Lacey Burse of Aurora, Ill.; three brothers, Curtis Lloyd and Percy Lloyd, both of Vicksburg, and Lamar Lloyd of Chicago, Ill.; her grandmother, Alberta Burse of Clinton; and other relatives.

ROMEO RICHARDSON

LOS ANGELES Romeo “Romie” Richardson, a former Warren County resident, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at Kaiser Cadillac Hospital in Los Angeles. He was 70.

Mr. Richardson served in the Army for two years and worked as a Teamster for more than 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Cole Richardson of Los Angeles; two sons, Romeo Richardson and Roland Richardson, both of Los Angeles; one daughter, Cheryl R. Bass of Long Beach, Calif.; his stepmother, Edith Vaden Richardson of Long Beach; two brothers, William R. Richardson of Vicksburg and Elder Freddie Richardson of Palmdale, Calif.; three sisters, Virgie R. Ellis of Vicksburg, Doris Richardson of Los Angles and Ora R. Wright of Compton, Calif.; a stepbrother, Ellis Vaden of Lakewood, Calif.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces; nephews; and other relatives including Anthony Ellis, Richard Ellis and members of the Lowe, Elmore, Richardson, Giles, Smith-Lee and Wallace families, all of Vicksburg, and the Moore, Richardson and Irving families of Edwards.

Services were at 1 p.m. Aug. 30 at Manchester Chapel with Bishop Arthur H. Jupiter officiating.

Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary of Inglewood, Calif., had charge of arrangements.
