A COLOR FOR TWO SEASONS
A DAY BEFORE temperatures are forecast to plummet, Wilma Sherard walks Monday in her yard off Hankinson Road where an azalea bush has been in bloom for about three weeks for the second time this year. Sherard said this is the first time in 15 years the plant, which normally gets its color in the early spring, has bloomed in the fall. In contrast, bales of hay for the oncoming winter stand in her neighbor’s yard. Temperatures tonight are expected to drop as low as 27, and the National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning, meaning plants and pets should be protected. The high on Wednesday is predicted to be 63.(The Vicksburg Post/MELANIE DUNCAN)
