St. Al squads double up MSD

[12/6/01]Victor Segers scored 13 of his game-high 28 points in the third quarter to lead St. Aloysius to a division win at MSD, 63-54, Wednesday night.

Kyle Richards had 14 and Matt Horn added eight points and eight rebounds as the Flashes, 4-4 overall, rolled their division record to 3-1.

“Victor was getting through the defense … but this was a complete group effort,” St. Al coach Paul Hayden said of the Flashes’ first game without one of its scoring leaders, Justin Williams, who transferred to McCall in Tallulah on Monday.

The Flashes led 34-26 at the half, but fell behind in the third until Segers sparked them.

The Flashes host Bogue Chitto in another division matchup Tuesday night.

Danielle Klaus scored eight of her 16 points in the Lady Flashes’ 26-point second quarter as St. Al led 34-12 at the half, then quit pressing and put it on cruise control.

Leslie Dyess finished with eight points and Jen Barnes scored six, all in the second quarter.

“We pressed well and Danielle hit some big shots,” Hayden said. “We hustled.”
