VERNA L. CRAWFORD
Verna L. Crawford died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. She was 54.
Born in New Orleans, Mrs. Crawford had lived in Vicksburg since 1978. She was an ordained minister, graduating from the Trinity Christian Training Institute in 1976. She was a member of Triumph Church.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Crawford of Vicksburg and Gary Waltman Jr. of Meridian; four daughters, Tina M. Landers, Anna Russell and Vel Duclos, all of Vicksburg, and Karen Flowers of Lafayette, Ind.; four brothers, Frank Palmisano of Carrier, Richard Myers and John Myers, both of Metairie, La., and Phillip Myers of Jefferson, La.; two sisters, Inez Holliman of Waveland and Helen Fowler of Bay St. Louis; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Triumph Church with the Rev. Michael Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service Sunday at the church.
EVELYN DARBY
ROLLING FORK Evelyn Darby died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 66.
A homemaker, Mrs. Darby was born in Grenada County and had lived in Rolling Fork for 20 years. She was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Thadius “Shine” Darby of Rolling Fork; a son, Ted Darby of Horn Lake; three daughters, Patty McPhail and Lynn Brooks, both of Rolling Fork, and Debbie Gullick of Senatobia; two brothers, Edwards “Pinky” Jones of Sturgis and Charles David Jones of Grenada; three sisters, Jimmie Mae Rotenberry and Rebecca Few, both of Water Valley, and Mattie Pearl Sykes of Duck Hill; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Deer Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Barnes officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Tillatoba under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Hogue, Johnny Miller, Wayne McPhail, Kevin Ivey, Ralph Hudson and Wendell Hudson.
FANNIE MAE EDWARDS
BRANDON Fannie Mae Edwards died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Crossgate Nursing Home in Brandon. She was 97.
Born in Camilla, Ga., Mrs. Edwards lived in Vicksburg from 1934 until 1994 when she moved to live with her daughter. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vicksburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G.T. Edwards.
She is survived by her daughter, Faye Blackburn of Ridgeland; two grandchildren, Claude Jack Blackburn Jr. of Jackson and Karen Blackburn Holder of Beaumont, Texas; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Thomas officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
CYNTHIA RENEE GREEN
Cynthia Renee Green died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001. She was 24.
An employee of Dillard’s, Miss Green was a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Toni B. Green; her grandfathers, Eugene Gibbs Sr. and Joseph Smith; and two uncles, Michael Rodney and Earl Thomas Green.
Survivors include her son, Derrell Green Jr. of Vicksburg; her daughter, Ashleigh Nicole Vivian Green of Vicksburg; her parents, Vivian Butler and Curtis Patterson, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Valorie Green of Vicksburg, Judy Thomas of San Diego, Calif., and Mary Miles of Korea.
