Ole Miss’ Reed selected SEC player of the week

[12/11/2001] Ole Miss sophomore forward Justin Reed was selected as Southeastern Conference player of the week on Monday, the first Ole Miss player to receive the honor since Keith Carter in 1999.
Reed averaged 17 points and 7.5 rebounds, while shooting 52 percent (13-of-25) from the field and 100 percent from the foul line (8-of-8) in wins over Louisiana-Monroe and then-No. 22 Memphis.
The Jackson native leads the Rebels in scoring (15.4) and rebounding (7.0). He is shooting 51.1 percent from the floor and 79.5 percent from the line.
