ROBERTA BRICKLEY AMOS

Roberta Brickley Amos died today, Jan. 16, 2002, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 102.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Amos was a farmer and a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Hebron M.B. Church where she was a mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Amos; three sons, James Amos, Aubrey Amos and Abraham Amos; and two daughters, Henrietta Amos Pilate and Geneva Amos Jackson.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Lee Amos Robbins, Lucille Amos Brown and Berda Catherine Amos, all of Vicksburg; her son, Simon Amos of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

ELLA D. COLEMAN

FAYETTE Ella D. Coleman died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Jefferson County Nursing Center. She was 76.

Mrs. Coleman was a member of Popular Hill A.M.E. Church where she was a stewardess and a missionary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Coleman; and her parents, Scott Keys and Julia Gaines-Keys.

She is survived by her son, A.J. Carpenter of Fayette; her daughter, Margaret Coleman of Fayette; three brothers, Scott Keys of Lorman, Willie Keys of Natchez and Talma Keys of Rockwood, Tenn.; two sisters, Mattie Ratliff of Chicago and Barbara Lenzy of Manley, Jamaica; two adopted daughters, Dorothy Banks Mason and Gloria King, both of Fayette; two godsons, Julious Davis of Lorman and Willie Coleman of Jackson; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Jolillion Jackson of Fayette and Johnny R. Claiborne of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jessimine Ridge Baptist Church in Lorman with the Revs. John L. Quinn and James Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. until the service Thursday at the church.

EDDIE JAMES GASKIN

DETROIT Eddie James “Man-Son” Gaskin died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, in Detroit. He was 74.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Gaskin had lived in Detroit since 1947. He worked for Latt and Gecklers for five years. He began working for Radio Distributors in 1952 and retired in 1990.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eloise Gaskin; three daughters, Linda Gaskin of Southfield, Mich., and Sandra Weatherspoon and Diane Gaskin, both of Detroit; four brothers, Alfred Gaskin Jr., Henry Gaskin and Jessie Gaskin, all of Detroit, and Elijah Gaskin of Gary, Ind.; three sisters, Mary Young and Maxine Stephen, both of Detroit, and Annie Prentiss of Vicksburg; two granddaughters, Zaronda Gaskin and Javona Weatherspoon, both of Detroit; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services were in Detroit.

ALLIE MAE ABRAHAM THOMAS

Allie Mae Abraham Thomas died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at her home. She was 80.

A native of Crystal Springs, Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and a farmer. She was a member of Mount Wade M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Thomas; and her sister, Christine Dotson.

She is survived by four sons, Jimmie Thomas of Vicksburg, Willie Thomas and Clyde Thomas, both of Chicago, and Timothy Thomas of Harvey, Ill.; five daughters, Teresa Noye of Vicksburg, Mary Simpson of Houston, Texas, Margaree Ratliff of Harvey, Ill., Sandra Kennebrew of Bellwood, Ill., and Jeannie Gonzalez of Chicago; her sister, Ollie Lee Dotson of Sacramento, Calif.; and 27 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and other relatives.
