DAVID BLACKWELL
David Blackwell died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 31.
A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Blackwell was a 1989 graduate of Warren Central High School. He was formally employed with MIDD-West. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Felix Blackwell and Melvie Blackwell; and his maternal grandmother, Joy Kearns.
He is survived by his parents, Ernest Carroll and Margaret Kearns Blackwell of Vicksburg; his brother, Brian “Rusty” Blackwell of Vicksburg; his sister, Angela Hill of Vicksburg; his maternal grandparents, Billy and Lee Kearns of Vicksburg; and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.
WOODROW W. CAIN SR.
LORMAN Woodrow W. Cain Sr. died Saturday, March 2, 2002, at his home in Lorman. He was 83.
Mr. Cain was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Davis County. He was an Army veteran, serving in the Philippines in World War II. He retired in 1981 from Southwest Electric Power Association after 35 years of service. He was a cattle farmer and member of Masonic Lodge No. 3 F&AM.
He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorman.
He was preceded in death by a son, Cammie Cain; a brother, Eugene Cain; and three sisters, Rosie Davis, Lula Emanuel and Eva Stephens.
Survivors include one son, Woodrow W. Cain Jr. of Port Gibson; one daughter, Edith Cranfield of Lorman; a brother, Edgar Cain Sr. of Port Gibson; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 today at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Burial will follow at Cane Ridge Cemetery in Lorman.
Pallbearers will be Burnie Brown, Jimmy Wallace, Aubrey Stephens, Eddie Orcutt, Tommie Anderson and Mike Piazza.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Russum and Elliott Brumfield.
MYRTICE M. FLOWERS
PORT GIBSON Myrtice M. Flowers died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Claiborne County Hospital. She was 90.
A native of Utica, Mrs. Flowers was a housewife.
She is survived by a sister, Elise Case of Delhi; and nieces and nephews.
Services were today at Utica Cemetery. Burial followed under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
EDITH MILLER
Services for Edith “Dena” Miller will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Livingston officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home from 5 until 8 tonight.
Mrs. Miller died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 73.
Mrs. Miller was born in Vicksburg. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Miller Sr.
She is survived by her son, Richard W. Miller Jr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Connie Miller Rittenhouse of Brewton, Ala., and Becky Miller Turner of Vicksburg; one brother, Claude Bagby of Vicksburg; one sister, Hazel Bagby Ables; six grandchildren, Paul Turner, Stephen Turner, Chase Miller, Colby Miller, Jennifer Stringer and Stacy Normand, all of Vicksburg; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Stringer of Vicksburg.

MAYME PREWITT PHILLIPS
Mayme Prewitt Phillips died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. She was 100.
A native of Choctaw County, Mrs. Phillips had lived in Vicksburg for the last 20 years.
She is survived by her son, C.B. “Bob” McHan of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Weir. Burial will follow under the direction of Nowell-Flippin Funeral Home in Ridgeland.
DAVID EMMETT RAY
Services for David Emmett Ray will be at 2 today at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Revs. Billy Brumfield and Geoffrey Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
Mr. Ray died Friday, March 1, 2002, in Newport News, Va. He was 46.
Mr. Ray was born and reared in Vicksburg and graduated from Vicksburg High School. He attended Hinds Community College and Mississippi State University. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers as a scientific technical photographer for 23 years, receiving several awards including the Department of the Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Employees and the Department of the Army Commanders Award. He was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Carr Ray of Vicksburg; three daughters, Sallie Mae Ray, Ellen Claire Ray and Haley Layne Ray, all of Vicksburg; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Ray of Vicksburg; one brother, William Michael Ray of Anguilla; and one sister, Sylvia Ray Gurtowski of Vicksburg.
Pallbearers will be David Roberts, Henry Johnston, Billy Ray, Collin Gurtowski, Oscar Reischman and Alan Ohrt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Hildon Sessums, Jerry Carr, Jeff Carr, James Carr, Luke Gurtowski, Will Gurtowski, Richard Gurtowski, I.T.L. at WES., Arno Falk of Wiesbaden, Germany, and co-workers in Newport News, Va.

WALLACE WILLIAMS SR.
Wallace Williams Sr. died today, March 4, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 72.
Mr. Williams was retired from the Chrysler Corporation in Newark, Del. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Morning Star M.B. Church where he was a deacon, trustee and Sunday school superintendent. He was a former member of New Calvary Baptist Church in Wilmington, Del., where he was a deacon, trustee, Sunday school superintendent and a teacher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth W. Williams; a daughter, Celeste L. Young; his parents, Charlie Williams Sr. and Arilla Miller Williams; five brothers, George Williams, Graham Williams, Charlie Williams Jr., Amos Williams and Harden Williams; and three sisters, Lizzette W. Walker, Rutha Mae Jefferson and Ida Bell Stewart.
He is survived by four sons, Wallace Williams Jr. of New Castle, Del., Richard Williams Sr. of Newark, John Henry Giles of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Perry Fields of Seattle, Wash.; two daughters, Janet Williams Coger of Newark and Betty L. Williams of Wilmington; his brother, John L. Williams of Vicksburg; three sisters, Clara Thomas of Denver, Colo., and Jim Ella Williams and Hazel Hatchett, both of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Michelle Renee Gasby of Wilmington
