ADRAIN LOUIS COX SR.

Services for Adrain Louis Cox Sr. will be at 11 a.m. today at the W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry Cox Sr. and the Rev. Kenneth McGruder officiating. Burial will follow at Jonestown Cemetery in Yazoo County under the direction of Century Funeral Home.

Mr. Cox died Saturday, May 18, 2002. He was 27.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Flora Celestine Becks Cox.

He is survived by two sons, Adrain Louis Cox Jr. of Jackson and Melvin Cox of Vicksburg; one daughter, Shacortney K. Reed of Vicksburg; his father, Harry Louis Cox Sr. of New Orleans; seven sisters, Ebonie Cox, Carmen Nefetiria Becks, Marilyn Cox Graves and Elizabeth Cox Cosby, all of Vicksburg, Velma Patrice Becks of College Park, Ga., Carolyn Annette Becks of Yuma, Ariz., and Vanessa Becks Martin of Killeen, Texas; six brothers, William A. Becks, Jonathan E. Cox and Jesse J. McGruder, all of Vicksburg, Harry Louis Cox Jr. of Memphis, Horace D. Becks of Mesa, Ariz., and Kenneth D. McGruder of Killeen; his grandparents, Velma Becks Owens and Willie Owens of Yazoo City; and members of the Cox, Becks, McGruder, Straughter, Owens and Mack families.

ROY EUGENE DEATON

Roy Eugene Deaton died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Center in Greenville. He was 50.

Mr. Deaton was a native of Hazlehurst and a resident of Vicksburg for 25 years. He was a member of Goodrum Baptist Church and attended Solid Rock U.P. Church.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burrell and Jessie Myrtle Hynum Deaton, and a brother, Herbert Hynum.

He is survived by his wife, Martha L. Deaton; two sons, Richard C. Deaton of Byrum and Kelly C. Deaton of Hazlehurst; two daughters, Brittany Blackledge and Delana Norris, both of Vicksburg; three brothers, George Clinton Deaton of Hazlehurst and William “Bill” Deaton and Walter Hynum, both of Vicksburg, and other relatives.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Revs. Robert O. Bishop and Jody Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Center/Light House, 1400 E. Union, Greenville, MS, 38701.

Pallbearers will be John Kent, Billy Davis, Thomas Pettet, Burton Hynum, Jay Hearn and Doug King.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Ford and the management and employees of Rouse Polymerics International Inc.

RUBY FRANCES NAFF

MONTICELLO, La. Ruby Francis Naff died Friday, May 24, 2002, at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop. She was 83.

Mrs. Naff was born in Forrest, Texas, and lived in Bastrop.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry George Naff; a daughter, JoAnn Naff Sanderson; her father, William Hythower Calhoun; and her mother, Edna Rushing Calhoun.

She is survived by three daughters, Billie Frances Banks of Drury, Mo., Doris Maxine Dilmore of Bastrop and Terry Naff Kramer of West Monroe; two sisters, Eddie Mae Murray of Dubach, La., and Blance Gary of New Iberia, La.; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Melbourne Baptist Church with the Rev. James Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Monticello.

Visitation will be from 5 until 9 tonight at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.

LOIS ROY

NEWELLTON Lois S. Roy died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. She was 79.

Mrs. Roy was a housewife and a member of St. Joseph Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence A. Roy Sr., and a son, Clarence A. Roy Jr.

She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Roy Thomas of Many, La.; a sister, Hazel Moore of Livingston, La.; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Fulton McGraw officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Monday at St. Joseph Baptist Church.

JULIA WALKER

PORT GIBSON Julia Walker died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Walker was a member of China Grove M.B. Church where she was past secretary for the church and the superintendent of the Sunday school. She was also a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association, Claiborne County Baptist Association, Heron of Jericho and Sunrise Court No. 243.

She is survived by a daughter, Frankie Lightfoot of Russum; five granddaughters, Ernestine Morgan of Port Gibson, Barbara Davis of Louisville, Ky., Francine Bouie of Fort Gordon, Ga., and Kimberly Rudolph and Dawn Lightfoot, both of Frankfort, Ky.; two god-daughters, Catherine Coleman and Catherine Goodmon, both of Port Gibson; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at China Grove M.B. Church in Russum with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery in Russum.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel.
