ED ALLEN JR.

Services for Ed Allen Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Stevie C. Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Allen died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 77.

Mr. Allen was retired from Anderson-Tully Co. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlie Mae Allen; his parents, Eddi Allen Sr. and Annie Bell Allen; two brothers, Virgil Allen and Houston Allen; and a grandmother, Nell Allen.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Hall Jr. and Charles Hall Sr., both of Vicksburg; one brother, Iva Allen of Edwards; four sisters, Reva Dotson of St. Louis, Mo., Marie Willis of Gary, Ind., Maynoia Reed of Edwards and Charlie B. Pritchard of San Diego, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including Daphne Ferguson of Vicksburg.

JAMES W. KIRKPATRICK

NOXAPATER James W. “Jimmy” Kirkpatrick died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 74.

Mr. Kirkpatrick was a graduate of Noxapater High School and East Central Community College. He received his bachelor of science degree and his master’s degree from Mississippi College. He taught and was a coach at Fayette High School for 17 years. He was in administration at Port Gibson High School for 23 years. He served in the Army in World War II and was a member of Noxapater Baptist Church

He is survived by his wife, Edna Carroll Kirkpatrick of Noxapater; his stepson, John O’Quinn Jr. of Gretna, La.; two sisters, Nancy McBraven of Louisville and Ann Fulton of Brandon; his brother, Ira Lee Kirkpatrick Jr. of Noxapater; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Noxapater Baptist Church with the Revs. Kevin White and Wayne Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Porter Funeral Home.

BERNARD OLAN LOVORN

ROLLING FORK Bernard Olan Lovorn died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis. He was 77.

Born in Leake County, Mr. Lovorn had lived in Sharkey County for 74 years. He was a Delta farmer. He served in the Air Force during World War II. He attended Mississippi College and the University of Mississippi. He was a founding director of Sharkey-Issaquena Academy and a member of the Rolling Fork United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel Lovorn of Rolling Fork; his daughter, Angela Odom of Memphis; his son, Jim Newman of Rolling Fork; his sister, Christine Windham of Mayersville; and three granddaughters.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Charles Burton officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home of Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Windham, Greg Windham, Pearson Windham, Gibson Lovorn, Jimmy Payne, David Mann, Steve Windham and Gene Windham.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Clark, Malcolm Warren, Don Armistead, Dunbar Lee, Glen Windham, Percy Lovorn, Frank Corban, Laurence Carter, Roger Turlington, Charles Weissinger, Bill Walters, Julian Grubbs and Jim Bryant.

Memorials may be made to Rolling Fork United Methodist Church.

SHELBY RANKIN SR.

PATTISON Shelby Rankin Sr. died Friday, June 14, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 69.

Mr. Rankin is survived by his wife, Arvilla Rankin of Pattison; two sons, Shelby Rankin Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Sam Rankin of Fayette; 10 daughters, Lelia Rankin of Miami, Fla., Willie Magee and Mary Smith, both of Richmond, Va., Claudia Coleman and Jenell Gilbert, both of Fresno, Calif., Lucy Chambers of Greenville, Ala., Antionette Tolliver of Lakeland, Fla., Serlena Rankin of Jackson, Rachelvilla Hewitt of Fort Lauderdale and Luvenia Jones of Pattison; 32 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Redemption Delivery Church in Pattison with the Rev. Malachi Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

EDWARD BROWN RAY SR.

Edward Brown Ray Sr. of Vicksburg died today, June 20, 2002, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 77.

Mr. Ray and his family were featured Sunday in The Vicksburg Post as they gathered for a Father’s Day and 56th wedding anniversary celebration.

Mr. Ray was preceded in death by one son, Timmy Ray.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine Price Ray of Vicksburg; seven sons, Tommy Ray and Larry Ray, both of Vicksburg, Bobby Ray of Valley Park, David Ray of Lumberton, Eddie Ray Jr. of Lake Charles, La., Ricky Ray of Baton Rouge and Mike Ray of Memphis; five daughters, Donna Cobb and Theresa Boykin, both of Vicksburg, Cathy Jo Edwards of Vaiden, Renee Mustin of The Woodlands, Texas, and Libby Flowers of Virginia Beach, Va.; and 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

TERESA LYNN REAGAN

DELHI Teresa Lynn Reagan died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. She was 32.

Born in Benton Harbor, Mich., Mrs. Reagan was a homemaker and an office receptionist at Delhi Rural Health Clinic. She attended Waverly Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Dawn Peek.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel Berry Reagan of Delhi; two daughters, Katrina Deanne Reagan and Jessica Kay Reagan, both of Delhi; her father, Larry W. Peek of Watervliet, Mich.; her mother, Sandra Kay Peek of Watervliet; her maternal grandmother, Katherine Bradford of St. Joseph, Mich.; and her brother, Jeffery Peek of Watervliet.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Waverly Baptist Church with the Revs. Lindle Stewart and Todd Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Crowville Masonic Cemetery in Crowville, La.

Pallbearers will be Mike Galloway, Dr. Jose Enriquez, Doyle Brown, Travis Wyatt, Donald Wyatt, Jim Reagan, Dan Chase and Keith Dulaney.

MARY MARBLEY STIFF

PORT GIBSON Mary Marbley Stiff died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at her home. She was 28.

Mrs. Stiff was preceded in death by her mother, Nina Herron; her maternal grandparents, Amos and Leona Marbley Sr.; her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Caroline Hunt; two uncles, Sammy Lee Marbley and Amos Marbley Jr.; and two aunts, Glenda Allen and Alease Huff.

She is survived by her father, Oliver Hunt of Port Gibson; four brothers, Anthony Lamont Marbley, Levorn Herron and Oliver Clyde Hunt Jr., all of Port Gibson, and Antoine Gibson of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Shannon Hunt of Roxie and Chelsea Hunt and Shantoine Gibson of Houston; and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rising Sun M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at the Barnes Family Cemetery in Carlisle.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. Friday until the service at the church.
