Dolls roll to 10-0 win in ASA tourney

[07/31/02]The Vicksburg Diamond Dolls got off to a strong start Tuesday at the 14-and-under ASA national fast-pitch softball tournament in Marietta, Ga., beating the South Carolina Lady Mudcats 10-0.
Lauren Anderson struck out 10, walked two and allowed only two hits in five innings to earn the win, and helped her own cause with two RBIs.
Seven of the Dolls had at least one hit, and Vicksburg collected nine hits in all.
Lauren Johnson added two hits and two RBIs, Sarah Kerut had two hits, and Anna Miller and Patti Collins each had two RBIs for the Dolls, who won the mercy rule-shortened game in five innings.
Courtney Prentiss also had a steal of home for the Diamond Dolls.
Vicksburg was to continue pool play today at 10 a.m. against the Newton (Mass.) Panthers.
