W.T. “BILLY” EWELL

Services for W.T. “Billy” Ewell will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas McGing officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Riles Funeral Home with a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Ewell died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was 70.

A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Ewell was a farmer and businessman. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, B.C. and Mary Agnes Ring Ewell.

He is survived by his wife, Betty P. Ewell of Vicksburg; two daughters, Hazel Ewell Day of Starkville and Burnie Ewell Ratcliff of St. Joseph, La.; and six grandchildren, Trace Day, Harper Day and Price Day, all of Starkville; Will Ratcliff, Mary Miller Ratcliff and Egan Ratcliff, all of St. Joseph.

Pallbearers will be Trace Day, Will Ratcliff, Paul Kelly Loyacono, Pete Buford, Phil Jones Sr., Ray Bankston, Sam Massey, Johnny Massey and Otto Hearn.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, P.O. Box 646, Vicksburg, Miss., 39181-0646.

PARNELL JOHNSON JR.

Services for Parnell Johnson Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be during the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Repast will be at the American Legion Post 213 at 1618 Main St.

Mr. Johnson died Monday, July 29, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 52.

He was employed by the city of Vicksburg and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Parnell Johnson Sr.; his mother, Alice Mae Bell Johnson; a sister, Bobbie Jean Oliver, and three brothers, Michael Johnson, Roosevelt Johnson and Freddie Johnson.

Survivors include one son, John Scott of Vicksburg; three brothers, Andy Johnson, Robert Earl Johnson, both of Vicksburg, and Herbert Johnson of Milwaukee, Wis.; and two sisters, Maxine Johnson Davenport of Vicksburg and Delores Johnson Green McCullun of Gary, Ind.

GEORGIA L. PATTON

Georgia L. Patton died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 at River Region Medical Center. She was 67.

Raised in Vicksburg, Ms. Patton attended St. Mary’s Episcopal School and graduated from Bowan High School in 1952. She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Tuskegee University in 1957.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Gray Patton, and her father, Abe Jerry Patton Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Ann Patton of San Francisco; and a brother, Abe Jerry Patton of Duncanville, Tx.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

FAYE A. STALLS

Faye A. Stalls died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 67.

Mrs. Stalls was a former resident of Vicksburg who made her home in Immokalee, Fla., for the past several years.

She is survived by two sisters, Jessie Thompson of Vicksburg and Carroll Thompson of Huntsville, Ala., and two brothers, Sammie Alexander of Vicksburg and John Alexander of Immokalee.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Green Acres Cemetery with the Rev. Terry White officiating.
