RUBY DUNN SANDERS

LEPANTO, Ark. Ruby Dunn Sanders died Monday, July 22, 2002, at St. Bernard Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. She was 79.

Mrs. Sanders was a member of First Baptist Church in Lepanto, Ark. She was a former Sunday school teacher and pianist. She was a member of the Lepanto Art Chapter, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Confederacy.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Thomas R. Sanders of Lepanto; a daughter, Camille Thomas of Vicksburg; two sons, John Sanders of San Angelo, Texas, and Dr. Richard Dunn Sanders of Creole, La.; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were July 24 at First Baptist Church of Lepanto under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Lepanto.

RUTH HOGAN WINFREE

Ruth Hogan Winfree died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at her home. She was 78.

Mrs. Winfree, a lifelong resident of Vicksburg, served in the Navy during World War II. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Isca Owen Winfree; her parents, Oliver and Lucy Roddy Hogan; two brothers, William and Benjamin Hogan; and two sisters, Mary Alice H. Graham and Margaret Ann H. Warren.

Survivors include three daughters, Lucy Taylor of Chattanooga, Tenn., Susan Bryan of Austin, Texas, and Kate Winfree of Vicksburg; two brothers, Thomas Hogan of Vicksburg and Daniel Hogan of New Rose, La.; two sisters, Lucy H. Sutterfield of Yazoo City and Mabel Louise H. Ellington of Natchez; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 9 until 11 a.m. Services will be today at 11 a.m. at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Father James O’Riordan of St. Michael Catholic Church officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

ELAINE UPCHURCH EDMONSON

FOREST, La. Elaine Upchurch Edmonson died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital in Hammond, La. She was 93.

Mrs. Edmonson lived in Forest, La., where she was a member of the Forest Baptist Church. She taught for more than 48 years at Forest Elementary and Sam Crow Academy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Edmonson; one son, Ronald C. Edmonson Sr.; and her parents, Claude and Eunice Upchurch.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl E. Fowler of Kentwood, La.; two grandsons, K. Shane Fowler of New Orleans and Ronald C. Edmonson Jr. of Shreveport, La.; and one granddaughter, Shannon Fowler of Baton Rouge.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Forest Baptist Church in Forest with the Rev. Pat Loftin officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery in Forest.

Pallbearers will be Hatten Tuggle, Howard Ainsworth, Don Harris, Lavelle Hammett, Marshall Peacock, David Edmonson, Wayne Edmonson and Bob Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Nat Edmonson and Milton Edmonson.
