HIRAM BUTLER BOWLIN

Hiram Butler “Bo” Bowlin died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 89.

Mr. Bowlin was born in Gloster to Benjamin F. and Rose Pittman Bowlin. He was a graduate of Ford High School and had been employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Revetment Sinking Unit, New Orleans District. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Corps during and after World War II. He retired in 1970 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 45 years of service. He also worked as a tax analyst for H&R Block for five years. He was a Mason and a lifetime member of Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Franklin County.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye W. Bowlin; his son, Richard “Ric” Bowlin of Ridgeland; his daughter, Roselyn “Ros” Middleton of Vicksburg; his grandson, Matthew Middleton; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be at Glenwood Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday with burial at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joe Ross, Dr. George Habeeb, Dr. Joseph Wilson and office staff, Dr. Abdul Bahro and office staff, River Region Medical Center fifth floor nursing staff, Marion Metzger and River Region Home Health.

Memorials may be made to Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church or Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society.

LARRY G. SANDERS

Larry G. Sanders died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at his home. He was 54.

A Greenwood native, Mr. Sanders had lived in Vicksburg for 30 years. He received a degree in marine biology from Mississippi College and worked as a biologist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curren Johnson Sanders and Alma Dora Cotton Sanders; a sister, Lavern Sanders; and a brother, Wayne Sanders.

Survivors include his wife, Candie W. Sanders of Vicksburg; a daughter, Kara S. Doiron of Hartsville, S.C.; a son, Patrick W. Sanders of Long Beach; three brothers, Dr. C.J. Sanders and Dr. Johnny Sanders, both of Tupelo, and Ronnie Sanders of Greenwood; and one granddaughter, Anna Kate Doiron of Hartsville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of the Holy Trinity with the Revs. Clifton McInnis Jr., Michael C. Nation and Charles Culpepper officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. at Popular Spring Cemetery in Carrollton.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dock Hill, Ed Theriot, Drew Miller, Al Cofrancesco, Ronnie Johnston, Phil Kirk, Mike Grodowitz and Jack Killgore.
