MACK LEE ANDERSON SR.

EDWARDS Services for Mack Lee Anderson Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ratliff Chapel M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 tonight at Lakeview Funeral Home in Vicksburg and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Anderson died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 73.

Mr. Anderson, an Edwards resident, was self-employed. He was born in Hinds County to the late Walter Anderson Sr. and Leora Harvey Anderson. He was a member of Ratliff Chapel M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Lucas Anderson; and a daughter, Leora Black.

Survivors include two sons, Mack L. Anderson Jr. and Ardale Anderson, both of Edwards; three daughters, Retha Sterling and Eunice Butler of Champaign, Ill., and Della Anderson of Detroit; five brothers, S.L. Anderson, Larnzia Anderson Sr., Walter Anderson Jr., Whirlington Anderson and Harold Anderson; six sisters, Arutha Rhodes, Marcella LeFlore, Beverly Manual, Barbara J. Jones, Evelyn Travis and Willie R. Fair; and grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

LOUISE S. BEST

Louise S. Best died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 95.

Mrs. Best was born in Johnstown, Pa., and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 64 years. A registered nurse, she worked in private duty. She had served as a Girl Scout leader.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Best.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean B. Middleton of Vicksburg and Patricia B. Munn of Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, Hugh L. Sheridan of Harrisburg, Pa.; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Steve Bryant officiating.

Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday at Glenwood Funeral Home.

L.T. FUNCHES

L.T. Funches died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in Pascagoula. He was 50.

Mr. Funches was born in Hinds County to Roscoe Funches Sr. and Artamissie Funches. He was a member of New Oak Ridge M.B. Church.

He graduated from Hinds Agricultural High School and Utica Junior College. He moved to the Gulf Coast area and worked as a welder at Ingalls Shipyard for 28 years.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles David Funches and Roscoe Funches Jr.; and a sister, Minnie Pearl Funches.

Survivors include Barbara Shirley Dotson; three sons, Eric Dotson, Michael Funches and Patrick Funches; two daughters, Latoya Funches and Octavia Funches; a brother, Willie James Mitchell of Mobile, Ala.; three sisters, Carrie Bell Funches and Ellen Funches, both of Chicago, and Arloya Funches of Jackson; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Oak Ridge M.B. Church in Hinds County. Burial will follow at Henry Cemetery.

ROLLING FORK Ellis Hayes Jr. died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, in Rockford, Ill. He was 52.

Mr. Hayes was a former resident of Rolling Fork.

JOHN IRA JENNINGS

HERMANVILLE John Ira “Big John” Jennings died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 67.

Mr. Jennings was preceded in death by parents, Samuel and Rosie Lillie Ewell-Jennings; a son, Shawn Jennings; a granddaughter, Autumn-Raine Paulla Jennings; two brothers, Daniel Jennings Sr. and Melvin Jennings; and two sisters, Geneva Davis and Cordelia Sewell.

He is survived by two daughters, Heidi Burrell of Hermanville and Tanya Jennings of Port Gibson; five sons, Adam Jennings of Hope Valley, R.I., Marino Jennings of Houston, Texas, John Jennings Jr. of Champaign, Ill., Derrick Jennings of Port Gibson and Charlie Jennings of Tillar, Ark.; four sisters, Alice Mae Jennings of Los Angeles, Nancy Jennings of Port Gibson, Annie Jennings of Memphis and Rose Williams of Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, Samuel Lush, Wilber Jennings and David Jennings, all of Hermanville; seven grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at King David Christian Church in Hermanville with T.E. Harris officiating. Burial will follow at the Jennings Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Port Gibson and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.
