MARCUS CHAMBERS
LORMAN Marcus “Junior” Chambers died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 62.
A truck driver, Mr. Chambers lived in Lorman.
He is survived by two sisters, Aretha Mitchell and Yvone Norman.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorman. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1 until 6 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
EULA LOUISE MOTLEY
DELHI Eula Louise Motley died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La. She was 89.
Mrs. Motley was born in Franklin Parish and was a resident of Tioga, La.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Albert Motley Sr.; a daughter, Mary Trapp; three grandchildren, Debby Singletary, Bubba Trapp and Amy Perkins; and a great-grandchild, Hanna Perkins.
Survivors include a son, William Albert Motley Jr. of Pineville, La.; four daughters, Mona Burchfield of Bastrop, La., Lurline Duckworth of Delhi, Sue Mitchell of Pineville and Barbara O’Neal of Ball, La.; and 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with the Rev. Mike Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow at Epps Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Duckworth, Bill Duckworth, Allen Trapp, Jim Smith, Dwain Trapp and Lee Duckworth.
MARGIE DEWITT
OAK GROVE, LA. Margie Dewitt died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at her home in Oak Grove, La. She was 56.
Mrs. Dewitt was born in Sonhimer, La., and lived in Oak Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Dewitt, and her parents, R.C. and Annie Calhoun.
Survivors include three sons, James Slate Dewitt of Waras, N.M., Tony Dewitt of Houston, Texas, and Clay Dewitt of Monticello, La.; two daughters, La Tina Harvey of Lafayette, La., and Larissa Williams of Oak Grove; two brothers, Steve Calhoun of Tollorosa, N.M., and Travis Calhoun of Oak Grove; two sisters, Janice C. Erskine and Patricia Ritzell, both of Oak Grove; and 16 grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. Sunday until the service.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Church of Christ in Oak Grove with Archie Haley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Ritzell, Johnny Erskine, Jeremia Mize and Seth Jones.
VIRGINIA THOMAS BRADLEY
Virginia Thomas Bradley died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was 69.
Mrs. Bradley was born in Edwards. She was retired from the Batesville Casket Company and was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an usher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Ella Lee Thomas; eight brothers, John Henry Thomas, McKinley Thomas, Richard Thomas, Bennie Thomas, Louis Thomas, George Thomas, Allen Thomas and O.C. Thomas; and four sisters, Jessie B. Eatmon, Vantee Singleton, Arlene Thomas and Laree Thomas.
Survivors include two sons, James E. Thomas of Flint, Mich., and Cornelius Bradley of Vicksburg; a brother, Bennie Roby of Vicksburg; two sisters, Delores Roby of Vicksburg and Kayretha Smith of Learned, Miss.; four daughters, Rosetta Bradley, Hattie Pearl Bradley and Camellia Bradley, all of Flint, Mich., and Ella Lee Smith of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
DOUGLAS R. COOPER
Douglas R. Cooper died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident in Big Pine Key, Fla. He was 28.
Mr. Cooper was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and moved to Vicksburg in 1976. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where he served as an acolyte.
A 1992 graduate of Vicksburg High School, he attended Hinds Community College and received a bachelor’s degree in biological science from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1996. He was employed by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and was a NOAA-certified scuba diver and licensed boat captain.
He is survived by his parents, Rich and Jan Cooper of Vicksburg; a brother, Greg Cooper of Tylertown, Miss.; a grandmother, Ruth McAdam of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and other relatives.
Visitation will be Monday from noon until services at the parish hall of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with Father Michael C. Nation and Father Clifton McInnis officiating. There will be a committal at sea in the Florida Keys at a later date.
Pallbearers will be Barry Sommerfeld, Brady Booton, Joseph Borowicz, Kay Lynn Plummer, John Walker and Jimmy Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be workers at the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
