Meals to go

Retired Col. Joe Dawsey, right, talks with Landing Ship Tank 325 executive officer James Edwards, center, after Master Sgt. James Reynolds with the 412th Engineer Command Army Reserve donated 30 ready-to-eat meals to crew members of the historic ship docked at City Front Monday. After taking a tour of the ship, Dawsey said he thought the Navy veterans could use some stock food for their 3,150-mile fund-raising trip on the Mississippi River this summer. “I just thought the Navy could use some help from the Army,” Dawsey said. Assisting in the delivery were Master Sgt. Kenya Embry and Staff Sgt. James Walker with the 412th Engineer Command. Later in the evening, crew members were treated to a meal at VFW Post 2572. The public tours of the ship, which began Sunday, were to continue until 4 p.m. today.(Melanie Duncan Thortis The Vicksburg Post)
