Fielder Perry Lowry

NETTLETON, Miss. Fielder Perry “Larry” Lowry died Monday, June 16, 2003, at his home in Nettleton, Miss. He was 74.

Born in Dell, Ark., Mr. Lowry moved from Amory, Miss., to Nettleton 33 years ago.

He was an Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean War, and was a former colonel on the staff of Governor John Bell Williams. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Lowry was an agricultural aviator and owned and operated Lowry Flying Service. He was a member of the Mississippi Agricultural Aviation Association and was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie M. and Thelma McNight Lowry.

Survivors include two sons, Floyd Lowry of Columbus, Miss., and Perry Lowry of Nettleton; seven daughters, Kathy Lowry and Sherry Prater, both of Holly Bluff, Miss., Gail Carnathan of Verona, Miss., June Lowry of Iuka, Miss., Kim Avery of Blytheville, Ark., Dusty Lowry of Nettleton and Tanya Underwood of Wren, Miss.; four sisters, Fairy Grey and Faye Marshall, both of Redwood, Fern Zavala of Santa Ana, Calif., and Florence Giles of Murieta, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home in Verona with Scotty Kitchens officiating. Burial will follow at Veterans Garden at Lee Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be John Colburn, Ronny Herndon, Dan Herndon, Bervin Underwood, Andy Underwood and John Ivy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Coggin, Clyde Lann, J.C. Holland, Frank Shields, Frank Nichols, J.D. Brookman and R.V. Grey.
