Irene Wilson Berry
McBRIDE, Miss. Irene “Houdie” Wilson Berry died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 66.
A resident of McBride, Miss., Mrs. Berry was a member of St. Mark M.B. Church, where she served on the mother board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Berry Sr.; three daughters, Mary E. “Peggy” Berry, Rosetta Betty Berry and Zula M. Ward; four brothers, V.L. Wilson, Mammon Wilson, James Wilson and Wiley Wilson III; and two sisters, Octavia Johnson and Mary Eliza Perkins.
Survivors include three daughters, Josephine Freeman of Caseyville, Miss., Susie Ann Robertson of Pattison and Lillie Walker of Vicksburg; three sons, Elbert Berry Jr. of Pattison, Edward L. Berry Sr. of Fayette and Nathan Berry of Russum; 33 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including the Wrens, Rankin, Thomas, Berry, Wilson, Reed, Trevillion, Shorter, Hedrick, Morgan and Burnette families.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark M.B. Church with the Revs. Dexter Jones and Roosevelt Harried officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette. Repast will follow in Red Lick.
Alonzo Green Sr.
Alonzo “Mickey” Green Sr. died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 54.
Mr. Green was preceded in death by his father, Aubra Green; his mother, Alberta Fonville Moore; and his grandmother, Carrie Holmes.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Singleton Green; three sons, James Lee, Alonzo Green Jr. and Perry Green, all of Vicksburg; five daughters, LaRubin Warfield, Chantay Lawrence, Danielle Lawrence and Dominique Washington, all of Vicksburg, and Xenia Green of Brandon; two brothers, Leonard Moore of Vicksburg and James Earl Moore of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Catherine Green of Vicksburg, Connie Green Smith of Indianapolis and Carolyn Green Banks of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Howard G. Johnson
CORINTH Howard G. Johnson died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Dogwood Plantation Assisted Living Center in Corinth. He was 80.
Mr. Johnson moved to Corinth in 1945. He worked as an interior decorator at Rubel Department Store. He moved to Memphis and was a window designer at Lowenstein’s and Goldsmith’s. In 1960, he created the Enchanted Forest at Goldsmith’s, designing and manufacturing the first Fiberglass manikins.
He was an oil painter, donating his works to various museums and selling them to raise money for memorials to Confederate soldiers. His paintings were exhibited at Northeast Regional Library.
Mr. Johnson also donated mementos and relics to Vicksburg Civil War museums and exhibits.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Reinhart Johnson of Corinth; two daughters, Sherri Rutledge of Corinth and Judy Joyce of Huntsville, Ala.; two sons, Ricky Johnson of Corinth and Jerry Johnson of Senatobia; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were at 11 a.m. Monday at McPeters Chapel in Corinth. Burial followed at Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery in Shiloh National Military Park.

Mary Gross Mosley
Mary Gross Mosley died Monday, July 14, 2003, at River Region West Campus. She was 90.
Mrs. Mosley was retired from Queen Quality Laundry in Detroit. She was a member of Hickory Tree M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lafayette Mosley; one son, Nealy Gross; one daughter, Gertrude Mitchell; three brothers, Winfield Woodhouse, James Woodhouse and Jessie Addison; her mother, Gertrude Green Woodhouse; her father, Frank Prentiss; and grandparents, Florence Moore and Annie Cook.
She is survived by a son, Willie F. Jones; three daughters, Mary Jones and Lubertha McGowan, both of Detroit, and Connie Wells of Vicksburg; one brother, Samuel Woodhouse of Saginaw, Mich.; four sisters, Miltie Delacruz of San Francisco, Mariah Bills of Memphis, Emma Meeks of Vicksburg and Rosie Duckett of Los Angeles; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Otha W. Ray
Otha W. Ray died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. He was 88.
A native of Benton, Miss., Mr. Ray had lived in Vicksburg since 1942. He was the son of the late George W. and Della Winston Ray. He retired as an electrician and foreman from LeTourneau after 37 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Quarter Century Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Eldridge Ray; a brother, Ellis Ray; and a sister, Ouida Smart.
Survivors include a son, Billy Ray of Prairieville, La.; four daughters, Boyette R. Scott of Vicksburg, Bonnie R. Perry and Polly R. Ladner, both of Gulfport, and Nevah R. Goodwin of Atlanta; a sister, Linnie Burrell of Benton; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Home with Dr. John G. McCall and Jim Hess officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Cabray Scott Jr., Lanny Ladner Jr., Jack Smith, John Scott, Mike Burrell, Christopher Goodwin and Bobby Burrell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shelton Ezell, George Callen and Chester Day.
Moserine Tillman
Moserine “Sister” Tillman died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 89.
A homemaker, Mrs. Tillman was a member and former usher at Mount Olive M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks Tillman; three brothers, Robinson Davis, Volley Davis and Jake Davis; a sister, Edith Davis Carlisle; and her parents, Pearl and Annie Brown Davis.
She is survived by two daughters, Mona L. Tillman of St. Louis, Mo., and Mary E. Maxwell of Altadena, Calif.; one sister, Catherine Murray of Cosby, Miss.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
