Eloise Guider

Eloise Guider died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 94.

Miss Guider was born in Vicksburg to George V. and Mary Alice Guider. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy and was a 1937 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.

She retired as a technical librarian from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Waterways Experiment Station. She was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, including G. Warren Guider, Tricia G. Sadler and Gwyn G. Neill, all of Vicksburg, Gail G. Boland and Jan G. Bond, both of Tupelo, Mary Pearse L. Schlottman of Hattiesburg, Dr. Ann L. Jackson of Thibodaux, La., Zita L. Sandmeyer of Roche Harbor, Wash., Judy G. Conerly of Kingsport, Tenn., Karen G. Jacobs of Littleton, Colo., and Kelly G. Finch of Casper, Wyo.; 30 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 11 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Janet Russell Isenberg

Janet Russell Isenberg died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 41.

Mrs. Isenberg was born in Greeley, Colo. She was reared in Vicksburg and graduated from Warren Central High School. She lived in Tishomingo, Okla., for a number of years and worked as a licensed practical nurse at Tishomingo Memorial Hospital. She had returned to Vicksburg six years ago.

Mrs. Isenberg was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dovie Marie Stevens Russell, and her paternal grandmother, Lena Manley Russell.

Survivors include her fiance, Edwin H. Holman of Vicksburg; one daughter, Amy Miller of Tishomingo; one son, Ty Isenberg of Tishomingo; her father, John Russell of Vicksburg; two sisters, Juanita Russell of Vicksburg and Wanda Curtis of Gordonville, Texas; three brothers, Mike Tim Russell, Terry Russell and Mike Russell, all of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Welborn, pastor of Warrenton Baptist Church, and the Rev. Darrell White, pastor of Wayside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Wayside Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mark Dement, Chris Holman, Gerald Palmer, Tim Burrough, Keith Hunt and Ed Holman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Pierce, Bill Delaney, Dr. Eugene Ferris, Marty Dement, Dr. Edward Crocker and Monty Dement.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Joyce Ann Neese

TALLULAH Joyce Ann Neese died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 41.

A Vicksburg native, Mrs. Neese lived in Rolling Fork for 20 years and had been a Tallulah resident for the past year. She was employed at the Brushy Bayou restaurant in Tallulah.

She is survived by a son, Jessie Ray of Southaven; three daughters, Tonya Ray and Gwen Ray, both of Southaven, and Mechelle Hudson of Tallulah; three brothers, Jimmy Neese and Charles Neese, both of Rolling Fork, and Henry Neese of Leland; three sisters, Nancy Voytko of Tallulah, Ruby Huskey of Rolling Fork and Linda Sapp of Coffeeville; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lynn Cemetery in Cleveland, Miss. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Leonard C. Rose

A Mass of the Resurrection for Leonard C. Rose, formerly of Vicksburg, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Boykins officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Rose died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at his home in Chicago. He was 74.

Mr. Rose attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Korean War, and was retired from Wycoff Steel in Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Robbins Rose; his daughter, Michelle Rose; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rose Sr.

He is survived by three sons, Anthony Abdullah-Nabawi and Darrell Rose, both of Chicago, and Kevin Rose of Everett, Wash.; one daughter, Patrice Rose of Vicksburg; three sisters, Gladys Harris and Florence Greenwood, both of Gary, and Alice Guest of Los Angeles; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service will be in Chicago.

Robbie H. Sigh

Robbie H. Sigh died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 79.

Born in Palestine, Texas, Mrs. Sigh had been a Vicksburg resident for a number of years. She taught kindergarten and was a retired employee of The Street Clinic. She was a member of First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sigh Sr.; her parents, John and Dora Handorf; a son, Charles “Dennis” Sigh Jr.; four sisters, Evelyn Peck, Dora Craig, Dorothy Smith and Marjorie Monk; and two brothers, John Henry Handorf and David Handorf.

She is survived by a son, Robert Sigh of Mound;, La.; three brothers, W.A. Handorf of Elkhart, Texas, and Don J. Handorf and Harold Handorf, both of Tyler, Texas; five grandchildren; and other relatives, including Stella Sigh of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Hancell Bankester officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kiger Sigh, Don Murrell, Sam Heltzel, David Girard, Henry Bordelon and Gary Dill.

Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Spivey, Butch Spivey, Rob Heltzel, Michael Gates and Shelby Price.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 3005 Porters Chapel Road, Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Christine Solomon

Christine Solomon died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at her home. She was 86.

Born in Eden, Miss., Mrs. Solomon lived in Jackson before moving to Vicksburg in 1954. She was a retired manager for the Vicksburg Water and Gas Administration. She was a member of Pi Alpha Kappa and the Vicksburg Home Extension Club. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Albert C. Solomon of Vicksburg; two sons, Dr. Don C. Solomon of Virginia Beach, Va., and Phil Solomon of Vicksburg; a daughter, Marti Solomon of Birmingham, Ala.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. John G. McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
