Willie Lee Jackson Sr.
MONTICELLO, Miss. Willie Lee Jackson Sr. died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 76.
A resident of Monticello, Miss., Mr. Jackson was a master Mason with the Monticello Lodge. He was a retired clerk with Western Auto and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Williamson Jackson; his parents, Robert Clifford and Julia Johnson Jackson; two brothers, Edgar Jackson and Shelton Jackson; and a sister, Edna Letchworth.
Survivors include a son, Bill Jackson of Vicksburg; two brothers, Enos Jackson of Monticello and Harold Jackson of Silver Creek; a sister, Virginia Broome of Prentiss; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
Eddie Lowe
Services for Eddie Lowe will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry D. Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Lowe died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Heritage House Nursing Home. He was 75.
He was a retired steward and member of Greater Mount Lebanon Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Lowe Sr. and Priscilla Irwin Lowe; five brothers, Adolphus Lowe Sr., Everett Lowe, LaSalle Lowe, James A.G. Lowe Sr. and Harrison Lowe Sr.; and three sisters, Amy Robinson, Perry Stewart and Priscilla Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn White Lowe of Vicksburg; one son, Donnie Lowe of Vicksburg; two daughters, Greta Lowe and Vicki Moore, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Sylvester Lowe Jr. of Chicago and Jasper Lowe Sr. of Memphis; three sisters, Opsy L. Dorsey and Odessa Elmore, both of Vicksburg, and Mahalia Taylor of Memphis; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nicie Flowers Meekins
Services for Nicie Flowers Meekins will be at 2 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral home with the Rev. Ryan K. Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Meekins died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90.
A homemaker, Mrs. Meekins was a member and mother at Mount Ararat M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Meekins Sr.; her parents, William and Sina Bingham Flowers; three daughters, Alva Meeks, Charlotte Williams Smith and Alberta Meekins; a son, Charles A. Meekins Jr.; three brothers, Dennis Flowers Sr., William Flowers and Hugh Flowers; and three sisters, Virginia Flowers, Alberta Robinson and Ella Mae Tibbs.
Survivors include two sons, John Meekins of Vicksburg and George Meekins of Atlanta; two daughters, Magnoria Smothers of Atlanta and Ruthe Lowe of Vicksburg; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including Diane Thomas of Memphis, Alva Patrica Coleman of Vicksburg and Gleneva B. Flowers of Chicago.
Nicholas Scott Townsend
Nicholas Scott “Nic” Townsend died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was 15.
Born in Meridian, Nic had lived in Vicksburg for the past 10 years. He was a sophomore at Warren Central High School.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, W.W. Boutwell.
He is survived by his parents, Leon and Gina Boutwell Pugh of Vicksburg and Scottie and Lynn Townsend of Union; four sisters, Tegan Thaggard and Danielle Pugh, both of Decatur, Taylor Townsend of Union and Chelsea Townsend of Vicksburg; four brothers, Blake Townsend of Collinsville, Josh Pugh of Decatur, Phillip Townsend of Newton and Richard Townsend of Union; his maternal grandparents, Bob and Thelma Austin of Sevierville, Tenn.; and his paternal grandparents, Harvey and Nancy Townsend of Union and Jeanette Wall of Newton; his paternal great-grandmother, Ruby Mitchell of Philadelphia, Miss.; and two nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. David DeWeese, pastor of New Harvest Church in Collinsville, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Eric Martin, Brad Willis, Josh Gordon, Joel Langford, Ricky Townsend, Robert Munn, Josh Pugh and Daniel Townsend.
