Mary E. Conner
Mary E. “Big Dale” Conner died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 58.
A resident of Vicksburg, Miss Conner was a retired bartender and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Conner and Bertha Whaley; and a sister, Patricia Ann Ailes.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Dart of Oklahoma, Neb., and Maurice Ailes and Johnny Ailes, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Mary L. Conner and Brandy Nicole Ailes, both of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including the Coleman, Lyons and Mobley families.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Ferdinand Justin Glassl
A funeral Mass for Ferdinand Justin “Dutch” Glassl was at 11 a.m. today at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Farrell, pastor, officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Mr. Glassl died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 80.
Born in Warren County, Mr. Glassl was the son of the late Ferdinand Anthony and Amye Irene Boone Glassl. He retired from Waterways Experiment Station paint shop in 1970 after 25 years of service. He was an Army veteran, having served during World War II, and was a former member of the Paddle Wheeler Square Dance Club and the Big Rack Hunting Club. He was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Mr. Glassl was preceded in death by three sisters; two brothers; and a grandson, Anthony Justin “A.J.” Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Doris F. Glassl of Vicksburg; two daughters, Annie Doris “Ann” Glassl Tabor of Pearl and Amye Glassl Scott of Vicksburg; and a brother, Walter Cox of Redwood.
Pallbearers were P.C. Cummins, Ronnie Pownall, Billy Foster, Danny Boler, Glen Foster, Jay Tidwell, Robert Smith and Robert Barnett.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Kette, John Kolb, Joe Canizaro, Jones Conrad, Marion Beasley, Troy Goss, Willis Garrard, Sidney Leist, Dwight Woodward and Carroll Blackwell.
Memorials may be made to Vicksburg Catholic School Building Fund, 1900 Grove St., Vicksburg, MS 39183.
Kimberly Bernard Koss
LOS ANGELES Kimberly Bernard Koss died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at her home in Los Angeles. She was 42.
Miss Koss was preceded in death by a son, Eric Simmon; two brothers, Patrick Bernard and Willie Bernard Jr.; and a sister, Josephine Bernard Morrow.
Survivors include her mother, Alberta “Mut” Bernard of Los Angeles; her father, Willie Bernard Sr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Nicole Bernard and Jasmine Bernard of Los Angeles; two sons, Jimmy Bernard and Tazanian Bernard of Los Angeles; seven brothers; and a sister.
Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Los Angeles has charge of arrangements.
Ruth L. Rowan
Ruth L. Rowan died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.
A native of Jefferson Hills Boro, Pa., Miss Rowan was a resident of Vicksburg. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Clairton, Pa., and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a retired clerk for Marraccini’s Supermarket in Pennsylvania.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheri Lancaster of Vicksburg and Leah Nemec of Valparaiso, Ind.; two brothers, Edward Graham of Jefferson Hills Boro and Howard Wayne Graham of Belle Vernon, Pa.; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Smith of Follansbee, W.Va.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home in Clairton with Ben Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Elizabeth Township, Pa.
Glenwood Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements.
