Jimmie Lee Grear
HERMANVILLE Jimmie Lee Grear died Thursday, June 3, 2004, as a result of an automobile accident in Copiah County. He was 55.
Mr. Grear was a resident of Hermanville and was a truck driver.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery under the direction of Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson.
Sidney Howard
Services for Sidney Howard will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Williams Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Howard died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro, La. He was 80.
Mr. Howard was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg.
He was retired from the Navy as a construction worker and was a member of Mount Calvary M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnnie Howard, Willie Howard Jr. and Robert Howard; two sisters, Rosie Armstrong and Thelma Robinson; and his parents, Willie and Missoura Howard.
He is survived by a brother, Moses L. Howard of Tacoma, Wash., and two sisters, Emma L. Sellers of San Francisco, Calif., and Edmonia Robinson of Vicksburg.
Sanford Paul Smithey
PIONEER Sanford Paul Smithey died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi, La. He was 83.
Mr. Smithey was a resident of Pioneer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Odessa Marjorie Smithey; and his parents, Ellis Francis and MaryLou Cindy Smithey.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Faye Dodson of Louann, Ark., Wanda Basco of Deville, La., and Sandra Danley of Pioneer; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pioneer Assembly of God with the Rev. Annie Mae Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Forest under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Johnson, Rickey Johnson, Bradley Smithey, Chris Danely, Heath Williams and Morgan Hess.
Dorothy Caroline Wilson
LAKE PROVIDENCE Dorothy Caroline Wilson died Friday, June 4, 2004, in Houston, Texas. She was 87.
Mrs. Wilson was a resident of Lake Providence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest L. Wilson Sr.; and her parents, Rufus Eugene and Mary Emily Ruby Elizabeth Womack.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Rae Wilson Jones of Houston; a son, Ernest L. Wilson Jr. of Lake Providence; two sisters, Marie Womack Dew and Mary Lou Womack Parker, both of Mer Rouge, La.; a brother, William “Billy” Womack of Mer Rouge; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services were at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Lake Providence with Dr. Neal Raborn officiating. Burial followed at Lake Providence City Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Lake Providence.
Pallbearers were Carroll Dew, Ted Parker, Ed Martin, Wayne Martin, Kenneth Carter Wagley and Tony Newton.
