Theresa G. Brown
LYON Theresa G. Brown died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at her home in Lyon. She was 101.
A former Vicksburg resident, Mrs. Brown was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church of Clarksdale and Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. A.R. Brown Sr.; two sons, Clarence Brown and Alfred Brown Jr.; a sister, Caroline Greer; and two brothers, Tom Bowman and Willie Bowman.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence Brown Sr. of Greenville; seven daughters, Olevia Leggette of Gunnison, Clemontine Catchings of Lyon, Alice Deransburg of Horn Lake, Ruth Jackson of Dracut, Maine, Juanita Robinson of Fort Washington, Md., Laura Nelson of Highland Park, N.J., and Caroline Robinson of Southaven; and a stepdaughter, Clara Earl of Fort Washington.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Lucy Ann Davis
SEARCY, Ark. Lucy Ann Davis died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, in Searcy, Ark. She was 50.
Born in Stuttgart, Germany, Mrs. Davis was a resident of Searcy. She attended Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Pangburn, Ark., and owned and operated K&K Dog Grooming in Searcy.
She is survived by her parents, James H. “Pete” Sr. and Helga Stubbs of Vicksburg; two sons, Eddy Longoria and Travis Longoria, both of Searcy; a brother, James H. “Jamie” Stubbs Jr. of Jackson; two sisters, Christine Butler of San Antonio, Texas, and Kathy Hogue of Heber Springs, Ark.; and a grandson.
A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home in Searcy.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Searcy, 112 Johnston Road, Searcy, AR 72143.
Larry Donell Keys Sr.
Services for Larry Donell Keys Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church on Lane Street. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
Mr. Keys died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 49.
A member of First Baptist Church, Mr. Keys was an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelton Sr. and Endia Keys; four brothers, Thornton Keys, Clifton Keys, Dr. Stewart L. Kees and Shelton Keys Jr.; and his grandparents, Aaron and Nettie Durr.
Survivors include his wife, Christine H. Keys of Vicksburg; a son, Larry Keys Jr. of Garland, Texas; a stepson, Christopher Henderson of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Carla Henderson of Vicksburg; a sister, Shirley Keys of Vicksburg; four brothers, Michael Kees Sr. of Vicksburg, Roosevelt Kees and Riley Kees, both of Dolton, Ill., and Leroy McDaniel of Springfield, Mass.; two grandchildren, Christopher Henderson Jr. and Christy Henderson, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends, including Charles Smith, Willie J. Hunt and the Henderson family, all of Vicksburg.
Emma Lynette Shopher
OAK GROVE Emma Lynette Shopher died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at North Monroe Hospital. She was 65.
Mrs. Shopher was a resident of Oak Grove.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Harper.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph “Joe” Shopher of Oak Grove; four sons, Dwain Jordan, G.A. McGaha and Gene McGaha, all of Oak Grove, and Carl McGaha of Monroe; her mother, Gladys Harper of Oak Grove; three sisters, Nell Bush, Barbara Butler and Theresa Davis, all of Oak Grove; a brother, Arthur “Jr.” Harper of Chatman, La.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Keith Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Kilbourne Cemetery.
Visitation will be today and until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Norman Calhoun, Hubert Ray Rollinson Jr., Ronnie Newton, Jerry Calhoun, Mike Shopher, Mark Hill and Jay Bush.
John R. Sturdivant
TALLULAH John R. Sturdivant died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. He was 98.
Born in Crowville, La., Mr. Sturdivant had lived in Tallulah for more than 60 years. He was a retired manager of a convenience store and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah and Tallulah Masonic Lodge No. 308.
His wife, Ollie Mae Sturdivant, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Jim Sturdivant of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter, Janet S. Richardson of Monroe; a brother, Bradley Sturdivant of Delhi; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
His grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
