JoAnn Dycus Dornbusch
JoAnn Dycus Dornbusch died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 55.
A native of Benoit, Mrs. Dornbusch moved to Vicksburg in 1977. She graduated from Greenwood High School and attended nursing school at Hinds Junior College. She was the former owner of Tingleville Grocery and had farmed with her husband at Oakland Plantation for more than 21 years. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Dornbusch; two brothers, Edward Dycus and Jimmy Dycus; three sisters, Dorothy Hill, LaVern Howard and Evelyn Brodowski; and a son, Jerald Marshall.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Barrett Morgan of Redwood and Shawn Pruett of West Point; a son, Dennis Logan of Redwood; three sisters, Lois Havens Melton of Transylvania, Mildred Guin of Newellton and Inez Hill of Michigan; a brother, George L. Dycus of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. D.W. Tipton, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the services at the church.
Martha Jane McLean
BASTROP, La. Martha Jane McLean died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at Glenwood Hospital in West Monroe, La. She was 79.
Born in Lake Providence, Mrs. McLean was a resident of Bastrop, La. She retired from the International Paper Single Division after 35 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Ellis and Violet Franklin; her husband, Joseph Beauford McLean Sr.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Gerry Fleming and Martha Jo McLean, both of Bastrop; three sons, Micky McLean of Bastrop, Joseph B. “Sonny” McLean Jr. of Greensburg, La., and James A. Jackson of Lake Charles, La.; a sister, Alice Sanders of Bastrop; a brother, George Ellis of El Paso, Texas; and 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop with the Rev. John R. Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at Christ Church Cemetery.
Glory Gay Newton
OAK GROVE Glory Gay “Jeanie” Newton died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove. She was 63.
Mrs. Newton a native of Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Clyde and Bessie Melissa Shoemaker; one son, Rodney Wayne Newton; and a brother, Jessie Edward Shoemaker.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie Newton of Oak Grove; two sisters, Ruth Allred of Oak Grove and Cathy Kemp of Flint, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimbo Herring and C.T. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 6 tonight at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.
Theodore Parson
Theodore Parson died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 66.
Mr. Parson was preceded in death by his parents, Issac Parson Sr. and Doretha Smith Parson.
He is survived by three daughters, Anita Lacey and Jessica Reed, both of Vicksburg, and Latoya Reed of Hattiesburg; a stepdaughter, Christy Young of Vicksburg; three sons, Theodore Parson Jr. of Hattiesburg and Donald Ray Parson and Eliza Parson, both of Vicksburg; and seven brothers, Monroe Parson, George Parson, Raymond Parson, Fred Parson and Issac Parson Jr., all of Vicksburg, Robert Parson of Baldwin, Mo., and Johnnie Parson of Portland, Ore.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
