Dorothy Montgomery Carmichael
CABOT, Ark. Dorothy Montgomery Carmichael died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in Cabot, Ark. She was 96.
Born in West Point, Mrs. Carmichael was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women. She taught elementary school in Crystal Springs and Ellisville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Carmichael of Utica.
Survivors include two daughters, Eugina C. Craig of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Judith C. Bibb of Cabot; two brothers, Richard Montgomery of California and Robert Montgomery of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bear Creek Protestant Methodist Church in Utica with the Rev. William Craig officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon Thursday until the service at the church.
John Franklin Fisher
TALLULAH John Franklin Fisher died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 70.
Born in Riverton, La., Mr. Fisher had lived in Madison Parish since 1974. He was a pipefitter, welder and farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church and several Masonic lodges.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Fisher of Tallulah; four sons, Johnny Fisher of Bush, La, Donny Fisher of Columbia, La., Benny Fisher of New Iberia, La., and Kenny Fisher of Houma, La.; a brother, Clifton Fisher of Amite, La.; two sisters, Mildred Hall of Columbia and Margie Fisher of Clarks, La.; his mother, Bessie Fisher of Clarks; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Harris Cemetery in Crowville, La.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Robert Shores, Mike Britton, Perry Belk, Glenn Belk, Jimmy Kowitz and Jimmy Atnip.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Madison Parish farming industry, Carl Kowitz, Terry Belk, Bill Ramsauer, Gary Williams, employees of International Paper Company and Pete Braddock.
Nancy Ford
UTICA Nancy Ford died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 87.
Mrs. Ford was born in Copiah County and had lived in Utica for 55 years. She was a member of Utica Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie E. Ford; a son, Joe E. Ford; and one brother, John W. Foster.
She is survived by her son, Milton Ford of Utica; her daughter, Loretta Baker of Utica; two brothers, Allen Foster of Winnsboro, La., and Alton Foster of Marion, Ind.; two sisters, Lois Ratcliff of Winnsboro and Ernie Lee LaFountain of Jacksonville, Ark.; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica with the Rev. Ben James officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Ford, Tommy Everett Ford, Christopher Opiela, Buddy Kerr, James Purvis and Ray Ratcliff.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the T.E.L. Sunday school class at Utica Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Utica Baptist Church Building Fund.
Marion Beatrice Mizell Hobbs
VIDALIA, La. Marion Beatrice Mizell Hobbs died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at her home in Vidalia, La. She was 78.
Born in Bogalusa, La., Mrs. Hobbs was the daughter of the late Louis Myron and Gabe Bickham Mizell. She was a member of Vidalia Calvary Baptist Church and the Homemakers Club. She was a retired registered nurse and homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel “Bart” Hobbs; a brother, James Mizell; a sister, Aline Simpson; and a grandson, Benjamin Hobbs.
Survivors include three daughters, Ellen Beach of Lake Concordia, La., Kris Hobbs of Brandon and Teresa Owen of Vicksburg; a son, Samuel “Buddy” Hobbs Jr. of Florence; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home in Natchez with the Rev. Ron Ledford officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from noon Thursday until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Sean Owen, Eric Beach, Trenton Owen, Cameron Owen, David Billingsley and John Mizell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rayford Allred, J.R. Braley, Edward Bringol, Glen Bringol, Louis Crooks, Floyd Staggs, L.H. Wilkerson, R.V. Mize and John Bandy.

Earlene G. Black Jones
ROLLING FORK Earlene G. Black Jones died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 84.
Born in Bushnell, Fla., Mrs. Jones had been a resident of Rolling Fork since 1965. She had lived in Vicksburg for the past two months. She was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Lee Jones; a daughter, Doris Geraldine Jones; a brother, Robert Louis Black; and her parents, Robert Lee Black and Sudie Lee Crawford Black.
Survivors include three sons, Ronnie Jones of Anguilla, Danny Jones of Vicksburg and Jerry Jones of Huntsville, Ala.; three daughters, Joy Walter of Vicksburg, Connie Ferguson of Rolling Fork and Betty Barker of Cordova, Tenn.; two sisters, Edwina Baranklaa and Lonita Calhoun, both of Plant City, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Millard Caulder officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.
Visitation will be from noon Friday until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Sean Barker, Larry Barker, Matthew Miller, Matt Jones, Lee Davis and David Francis.
Samantha B. Watts
Samantha B. Watts died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 39.
Miss Watts was preceded in death by her father, Ed Beverly “E.B.” Watts, and her grandmother, Ida Watts “Tack” Alexander.
She is survived by her mother, Irene Watts of Vicksburg; a daughter, Kyaira Anderson of Vicksburg; a son, Samarius Anderson of Vicksburg; four brothers, Michael B. Watts of St. Louis, Mo., and Ed B. Watts Jr., Jeffrey B. Watts and Christopher B. Watts, all of Vicksburg; and aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
