Albert Modell O’Neal Sr.

OAK GROVE, La. Albert Modell O’Neal Sr. died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital. He was 85.

Mr. O’Neal was born in Amite City, Miss., and was a resident of Oak Grove. He was a longtime member of Kilbourne Baptist Church where he was a deacon.

He was a retired bus driver and a farmer.

He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene O’Neal, and his parents, Albert Eugene and Julie Lela O’Neal.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine O’Neal; three daughters, Gloria Troia of Oak Grove, Marie Chandler of Las Vegas and Ann Cascio of Monroe, La.; three sons, Albert Modell O’Neal Jr. of Oak Grove, Mitchell O’Neal of Forest, La., and Thomas O’Neal of Monroe; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kilbourne Baptist Church with the Rev. Bernard Duchesne and the Rev. Ron Bray officiating. Burial will follow at Kilbourne Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Will Troia, David Shopher, Todd O’Neal, Lee Johnson, Paul Cascio and Greg Jones.

George Berry Tompkins Sr.

George Berry Tompkins Sr. died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Belmont Gardens in Vicksburg. He was 84.

Mr. Tompkins was born in Taylorsville, Miss., and had been a resident of Vicksburg most of his life. He was a graduate of Jett High School and had been the stage manager at the City Auditorium for over 40 years.

He and his wife were charter members of the Paddlewheelers Club and were square dancers for over 45 years. He was a member of St. Albans Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick William and Mary Louise “Mamie” Berry Tompkins; his wife, Louise Irene “Lourene” Nelson Tompkins; his brother, Pat Tompkins; and his sisters, Louise Harris and Mary Clare Tompkins.

He is survived by two daughters, Serena Anne Tompkins of Magee, Miss., and Cheri Irene Loden of Vicksburg; a son, George B. Tompkins Jr. of Vicksburg, and a granddaughter, Brandi Michelle Loden of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ann Whitaker, rector of St. Albans Episcopal Church, the Rev. Larry Wicker of Water Valley, Miss., and Jack Virden officiating. Burial will follow at the Gibson Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ken Nelson, Hal Nelson, Charles Haley, Troy Goss Sr., Troy Goss Jr. and Robert Goss.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Daniel Edney, members of the Paddlewheelers Club, the staff of Belmont Gardens and members of the International Association of Theatrical Stage Employees Local No. 589.
