Ira Allen

LEARNED Ira Allen died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Inglewood Nursing Home in Jackson. He was 92.

A resident of Learned, Mr. Allen was an electrician.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica. Burial will follow at Morrison Cemetery in Learned.

Claudis Amber Brown

Claudis Amber Brown died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Baylor Medical Center in Irving, Texas. She was 87.

A native of Vicksburg, Mrs. Brown was a resident of Irving. She was the daughter of the late George Thomas and Maude Malverdy Clemons Cavness.

She had worked at Mercy Hospital and Westinghouse and had owned the Claudis Sowell Maude Shop. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Brown; two sons, Charles Wilkerson and Samual D. “Skippy” Wilkerson; and two daughters, Earlene Holtorom and Evelyn Brown.

Survivors include one daughter, Janie Johnston of Vicksburg; one son, James Wilkerson of Irving; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home.

Aaron Reed Chapman

Joel Blake Chapman

MONROE Aaron Reed Chapman, infant son of Kent and Jessica Chapman of Monroe, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at Women’s Hospital in Baton Rouge. His twin brother, Joel Blake Chapman, had died Tuesday, Oct. 12.

In addition to their parents, the twins are survived by a sister, Skylar Bates of Monroe, and their grandparents, Sherry White of West Monroe and Carolyn and John Mercer of Oak Grove.

Services for Aaron and Joel will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Alan Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Carl Lewis Curtis

Carl Lewis Curtis died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at his home. He was 70.

A native of Jefferson County, Mr. Curtis had lived in Vicksburg for 25 years. He was the son of the late Thelbert L. and Ella Mae Jones Curtis. He was a painter for 45 years, an Army veteran and a Sunday school teacher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Buster Curtis.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce S. Curtis of Vicksburg; a daughter, LaFern Curtis Massey of Vicksburg; three stepdaughters, Veva Lewallen of Crenshaw and Cindy Kleinman and Sharon Nevels, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Charles Ray Curtis of Possum Hollow and Willie Curtis of Vicksburg; three sisters, Shelly Price of Tallulah, Dee Farris of Vicksburg and Bobbie Donaldson of New Orleans; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church with Fisher Funeral Home in charge.

Roswell Irving Jr.

EDWARDS Services for Roswell “Toada” Irving Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bonner Campbell College in Edwards. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 tonight, with family hour from 6 until 7, at the funeral home.

Mr. Irving died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 73.

He was a resident of Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Roswell “Jack” Irving Sr. and Marie Donaldson Irving; and a brother, Embry Irving.

Survivors include a son, Kelvin Irving of Edwards; two daughters, Carla Irving Forte of Vicksburg and Norma “Lynn” Irving-King of Horn Lake; a brother, Dr. William Irving of Augusta, Ga.; and four sisters, Minnie Ruth Morman of Chicago, Louella Williamson of Tuskegee, Ala., Velma Frizzell of Omaha, Neb., and Roberta Irving-Taylor of Edwards.
