Dr. W.H. Carnes Jr.
BILOXI Dr. W.H. Carnes Jr. died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, in Collins. He was 79.
Dr. Carnes was born in Brookhaven to the late William H. and Nellie Storm Carnes. A 1943 graduate of Gulfport High School, he received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Mississippi and completed his medical degree at Tulane University. After completing his residency, he joined the Navy and became a flight surgeon as a lieutenant commander.
He served with the Marines at Cherry Point, N.C., before joining the staff of Kuhn Memorial Hospital, where he worked for 17 years. He received training as a pathologist and later worked at Veterans Administration hospitals in Jackson, Des Moines, Iowa and Biloxi.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi.
He was preceded in death by a son, John K. Carnes; and a sister, Margie Carnes.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Charlene M. Carnes; five sons, William H. Carnes III of Springfield, Mo., Carl M. Carnes of Des Moines, Robert P. Carnes of Independence, Mo., James M. Carnes of Olathe, Kan., and Paul D. Carnes of Biloxi; six daughters, Andra N. McBroom and Regina S. Reyes, both of Biloxi, Linda A. Bisanti and Debra M. Gustafson, both of Des Moines, Charla A. Carnes of Kansas City, Mo., and Teresa E. Carnes of Lenexa, Kan.; a sister, Betty Fayard of Gulfport; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren and other relatives.
A Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Pass Road Chapel, in Biloxi with rosary at 7:30.

Ethel Bertha Clark Elmore
Services for Ethel Bertha “Net” Clark Elmore were at noon today at New Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Burial followed at New Zion Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Elmore died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at her home. She was 99.
Mrs. Elmore was a member of New Zion M.B. Church, where she was a former secretary and on the Mother Board. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Willard Elmore, Henry Wright and Paul Elmore; two daughters, Georgia Raye and Bertha Elmore; her father, Julius Clark Sr.; her mother, Ruth Sanders; a brother, Julius Clark Jr.; and her husband, George Elmore.
She is survived by three daughters, Alma Moore, Gwendolyn Carter and Mary Elmore, all of Vicksburg; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Ceasar Belle Jones
Services for Ceasar Belle Jones will be at noon Wednesday at Triumph M.B. Church with the Rev. Larry A. Nicks officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The body will be at the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Mrs. Jones died, Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at her home. She was 76.
Mrs. Jones was retired from the Warren County Courthouse. She was a member of Triumph M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Jones Sr.; a sister, Eddie Lee Johnson; and four brothers, Meridith Taylor Sr., Willie Taylor, Sydney J. Taylor and Sylvester Taylor Jr.
She is survived by five daughters, Janice M. Williams, Linda K. Powell and Donna R. Jones, all of Vicksburg, Brenda J. Jones of Gary, Ind., and Marcia G. “Gi-Gi” Bello of Anchorage, Alaska; a stepson, Isaac Jones Jr. of Chicago; one sister, Ida Mease Murray of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including members of the Taylor, Carson, Young, McGraw, Majors, Winters and Miller families of Vicksburg.
James Mitchell Martin
James Mitchell Martin died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at his home in Redwood. He was 58.
A Warren County native, Mr. Martin retired from South Central Bell after 35 years of service. He was a member of numerous organizations and was a past member of the Warren County Bridge Commission. He was a lifelong member of Martin’s Deer Camp.
He was preceded in death by his father, James C. “Joe” Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Parker Martin of Redwood; two daughters, Tammy Martin of Plain Dealing, La., and Toni Neumann of Redwood; one son, Mitch Martin of Bovina; his mother, Irene Breland Martin of Redwood; a sister, Beth Martin Britt of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and three granddaughters.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the service.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Ross, Thomas Sanderford, Doss Shropshire, Sonny Keen, Danny Carter, Tony Irwin, Kenny Wells and Nelson Kelly.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Martha Jean Wilson
Martha Jean Wilson died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 63.
Mrs. Wilson was a native of Sadler, Texas, and had lived in Vicksburg for 30 years. She worked for Cooper Lighting, retiring as a label maker after 30 years of service. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, John P. Williams, and two sons, John Milton Acker and Jerry C. Acker Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Wilson of Vicksburg; three daughters, Deborah Grant of Oxford, Jennifer Michael Phillip of Vicksburg and Rhonda Morris of Whitesboro, Texas; her mother, Dorothy Shelby Williams of Whitesboro; a brother, Edwin Williams of Sadler; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher Funeral Home with Sam Dunaway officiating. Burial will be at McComb Cemetery in Whitesboro.
Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Johnnie Windmon
PORT GIBSON Johnnie Windmon died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at Claiborne County Nursing Home. He was 63.
He was preceded in death by his father, L.E. Windmon, and a son, Johnnie Windmon Jr.
Survivors include a son, Timothy Windmon of Jackson; six daughters, Deborah Windmon and Johnnie Mae Windmon, both of Alabama, Catherine Windmon and Connie Windmon, both of Chicago, and Darlene Windmon and Ann Windmon, both of New Orleans; his mother, Rachel Windmon of Hermanville; four brothers, Isaiah Windmon Sr. of Hermanville, Perry Howard of Biloxi, John Windmon of Chicago and Will Windmon of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Mary Daniels of Milwaukee, Wis.; 16 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Chapel Church with the Rev. Johnnie Hughes officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and Wednesday from noon until the service at the church.
