William Douglas Sr.
Services for William Douglas Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnnie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Douglas died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 85.
Mr. Douglas was a retired heavy-equipment operator from Anderson-Tully Co. He served in the Navy in World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Ernestine Douglas and Jessie Douglas; three brothers, John Douglas, Henry Douglas and Mose Douglas; four sisters, Annie Douglas, Easter Green, Carrie Jones and Amanda Jackson; and his parents, William and Emily Roach Douglas.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Curry Douglas of Vicksburg; three sons, William Douglas Jr. and Ernest “Grit” Douglas, both of Vicksburg, and Roosevelt Douglas of Los Angeles; three daughters, Mattie D. Wilson and Janie Douglas, both of Vicksburg, and Hattie Douglas of Los Angeles; a brother, Robert Douglas of Los Angeles; two sisters, Lillian Rucker of Natchez and Laura Washington of Chicago Heights, Ill.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including members of the Smith, Lincoln and Washington families of Vicksburg.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Lottie Mae Frith
Lottie Mae Frith died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 84.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Frith was the daughter of the late Wilmer and Blanche LaMaster Gibson. She was a switchboard operator for Trustmark Bank for more than 20 years.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Bowmar Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Frith was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Frith; a brother, Edgar Lee Gibson; and a granddaughter, Lisa Taylor.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Wunch of Conyers, Ga.; two sons, Donnie Frith of Delta and Gene Frith of Vicksburg; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tom Engdahl, Ray Burrough, Howard Benson, Humphrey Barlow, Kerry Simmons and Victor Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Trustmark National Bank.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Cynthia Diane Whorton Grey
TYLER, Texas Cynthia Diane Whorton Grey died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, in Tyler, Texas. She was 35.
Mrs. Grey was a native of West Carroll Parish. She graduated from Forest High School in 1987 and received her pharmaceutical degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 1994.
She was a pharmacist for CVS in Tyler.
She is survived by her husband, Cris Grey of Tyler; two daughters, Haley Sheiron Grey and Anna-Grace Rose Grey, both of Tyler; her parents, John L. and Joan McCullough Whorton of Oak Grove; two sisters, Sandra Johnette Adams of West Monroe and Leslie Coahoma Praetorius of Oak Grove; and other relatives, including Geraldine Stanley of Oak Grove.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Goodwill Church of God in Goodwill, La., with the Revs. Troy Williams and Jason Strong officiating. Burial will follow at McGaha Memorial Cemetery in West Carroll Parish under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
Visitation will be until 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Beatrice Hardin Jackson
EDWARDS Beatrice Hardin “Aunt Bea” Jackson died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Pleasant Hill Community Living Center. She was 92.
Mrs. Jackson was former pastor and founder of Wayside Crusader Church of Deliverance in Edwards. She retired as a school teacher from Mixon Elementary in Utica.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvah E. Jackson; her parents, Attriac and Nancy V. Styles Hardin; and nine siblings.
Survivors include a sister, Irene Becton of St. Louis, Mo., and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wayside Crusader Church of Deliverance on Old Highway 3. Burial will follow at Welcome Cemetery on Old Adam Station Road under the direction of Cook Funeral Home in Jackson.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Alma J. Johnson
Alma J. Johnson died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.
Mrs. Johnson was retired. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by a husband, Henry Dugano; her parents, Robert and Sadie Rodgers Jackson; a sister, Hattie Mae Warren; a grandson, Henry L. Dugano; and a granddaughter, Shavonne Jones.
Survivors include three daughters, Bobbie Hunter of Vicksburg, Sadie M. Dugano of Lake Providence and Sarah A. Carter of Dallas; two stepdaughters, Barbara Scarborough of New Orleans and Mary Johnson of Chicago; one stepson, Celus Johnson Jr. of Lake Providence; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
