Robert E. Heltzel

RICHMOND, Va. – Robert E. Heltzel, 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005. He was a resident of Richmond, Va.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gray Heltzel; and a son, Robert Edgar Heltzel Jr.

Mr. Heltzel was a 1940 graduate of VPI, worked for C&P Telephone for more than 40 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he received the Meritorious Heroic Achievement Star.

Survivors include one son, Samuel B. Heltzel of Vicksburg; five grandchildren, Erica Gray Heltzel, Peter Goodwin Heltzel, Rachel Gray Heltzel Rankin, Marjorie Minor Heltzel and Robert Strader Heltzel; one great-grandson, Grayson Neal Rankin; and one brother, Alan S. Heltzel.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Health Care Fellowship Hall at Cedarfield. Interment was private. Arrangements were handled by the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home.

Memorial gifts may be made in Mr. Heltzel’s memory to the Virginia Tech Foundation, 201 Park Building (0336), Blacksburg, VA 24061.

Concetta Valencino Dalfiume

LAKE PROVIDENCE – Concetta Valencino Dalfiume died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at East Carroll Parish Hospital in Lake Providence. She was 91.

Mrs. Dalfiume was a native of Greenville and resident of Lake Providence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Paul Dalfiume Sr., and her parents, Frank and Sara Maggio Valencino.

She is survived by one son, Louis Paul Dalfiume Jr. of West Monroe; one daughter, Terrye Dalfiume Lesley of New Orleans; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lake Providence with the Rev. Zacharias Prakuzhy officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Providence City Cemetery.

Rosary will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church with visitation to follow at 10.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, IL 60611-1676.

Ether M. Hunter

Services for Ether M. Hunter will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. James Archer officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hunter died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. She was 55.

Mrs. Hunter retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service and had worked for the Corps of Engineers. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Virnice Willis Hunter, and a brother, McArthur Hunter.

Survivors include two sons, Kieran Michael Hunter of North Carolina and Daniel McFee of Rocky Point, N.C.; two daughters, Tiffany Byrdsong and LaToska Hunter, both of Vicksburg; four brothers, Willie J. Hunter, Emmitt D. Hunter and Glenn Hunter, all of Vicksburg, and Charles Hunter of Seaside, Calif.; two sisters, Ernestine Hunter and Patricia Hunter Brown, both of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Wilma Jean Jones

JACKSON – Wilma Jean Jones died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. She was 63.

Mrs. Jones worked as a cook at Harbor House.

Services will be at noon Monday at greater Bethlehem Temple in Jackson. Burial will follow at Garden Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson.
