Selma Elizabeth Montgomery

Selma Elizabeth Montgomery, formerly of Vicksburg, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, in Champaign, Ill. She was 81.

Mrs. Montgomery was the daughter of Clifford and Wessie Oakes of Vicksburg. She lived in Kingston, Tenn., for 23 years and was a resident of Mobile, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Maxwell S. Montgomery.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Robinson of Champaign; a sister, Violet Dickens of Mobile; and one grandson.

Services will be at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, Tenn.

James Sims

FLINT, Mich. – James “Scoot” Sims died Friday, March 4, 2005, in Flint, Mich. He was 82.

Mr. Sims was a longtime resident of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Carrie Sims of Vicksburg; one brother, Alfreddie Cook; and one sister, Annie B. Thom.

He is survived by his wife, Roxie Sims of Flint; two sisters, Williethel Jones of Vicksburg and Leona Green of Monteclair, Calif.; a brother, Mack Cook of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews and aunts.

Services will be Saturday in Flint under the direction of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home.
