LAKE PROVIDENCE – Three people were arrested Wednesday and accused of involvement in a June 2004 slaying. Authorities were seeking a fourth suspect this morning.
Elizabeth Fields, 20; Greg E. Fields, 22; and Evangelin M. Fields, 42; all of Lake Providence, face charges of accessory after the fact to second degree murder of Dedrick Taylor, Louisiana State Police spokesman Julie Lewis said. Evangelin Fields is the mother of Elizabeth and Greg Fields.
All of the suspects were at the Riverbend Detention Center in East Carroll Parish this morning without bond, Lewis said.
A warrant has been issued for Anteria “Joe” Powell, 22, of Lake Providence, for second degree murder, Lewis said. Police believe he has fled the area.
Taylor was shot on Jackson Street in Lake Providence on June 5, 2004.
The discovery of an assault rifle police believed to be the murder weapon prompted the arrests of the three. Acting on a tip, police discovered the weapon in a small body of water in East Carroll Parish. Ballistic tests tied the weapon to the Fields. They have also been accused of helping to hide the weapon, Lewis said.
Police ask that anyone with information about Powell call the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Department at 318-559-2800 or the Louisiana State Police Troop F at 318-345-0000.
