Boston Burton
PORT GIBSON – Boston “Little Buddy” Burton died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at the Claiborne County Nursing Center in Port Gibson. He was 91.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Burton Sr. and Febbie Ward-Burton; four sisters, Ruth Montgomery, Willie Cobb, Hattie Burton and Mildred Burton; and two brothers, Anderson Ward and Wiley Burton Jr.
Survivors include two nieces, Dorothy Christian and Claudia Wilson, both of Port Gibson; two nephews, Louis Montgomery Jr. of Long Beach, Calif. and Sidney Montgomery of Port Gibson; and other relatives and friends including Estella Ward of Port Gibson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Port Gibson with the Rev. Eddie Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery in Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 this evening and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the chapel.
Bernice Johnson Griffin
OAK GROVE – Bernice Johnson Griffin died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove. She was 91.
Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Mason Griffin; a son, Raymond “Runt” Griffin; and her mother, Lonie Ainsworth Johnson.
She is survived by a son, Billy Griffin of Pioneer, La.; two daughters, Wilodyne Gathings of Pioneer and Shirley Corbin of Oak Grove; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Forest Cemetery in Forest, La., with the Rev. Annie Mae Farmer officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Corbin, Robby Thompson, Tony LaCaze, Pete Philley, Dan Reiter, Rowdy Thomas and Mike Corbin.
Herman Trichell
OAK GROVE – Herman “Doodle” Trichell died Saturday, April 16, 2005, in Oak Grove. He was 67.
Mr. Trichell was born in West Carroll Parish and was a resident of Oak Grove.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elliott Thomas Trichell; his mother, Lora Trichell; one sister, Opal Trichell; and four brothers, Ernest Trichell, Pojohn Trichell, Cecil Trichell and J.W. Trichell.
Survivors include Rita Paulino of Oak Grove; two daughters, Kathy Powell of Crosby, Texas, and Sandy Robberson of Huffman, Texas; three sons, Terry Trichell and Travis Trichell, both of Crosby, and Terry Trichell Jr. of Lake Village, Ark.; two brothers, O.C. Trichell of Monroe and Newton V. Trichell of Oak Grove; four sisters, Bobbie Jean Futch and Becky Dye, both of Farmerville, La., and Beatrice Bonnett and Ruth “Baby” White, both of Oak Grove; and 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Church of God in Oak Grove with the Revs. Paul Ninemire and Bill Bearden officiating. Burial will follow at Ravan Cemetery in Oak Grove under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
