Jessie Lee Helms

OAK GROVE – Jessie Lee Helms died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. He was 83.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Helms and Lilly Helms; and his wife, Louise Ruffin Helms.

Mr. Helms was a longtime resident of West Carroll Parish, where he was a member of the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church of Oak Grove. He was a building contractor for more than 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mardell Ethel Helms of Oak Grove; three sons, Vernon Lee Helms of Oak Grove, Billy Ray Helms of West Monroe, and Jessie Randall Helms of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren; seven-great grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove with the Rev. Robert Helms, Milton Pray and Doug Hatten officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery in Forest.

Visitation will be from 10 this morning until 9 tonight at Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Helms, Jeffrey Helms, Marshall Ruffin, John Chestnut, Jackie Jones, Jimmy Worley, Eddie Stephens and Clyde Sanchez.

Bobby Towne Horn

PORT GIBSON – Bobby Towne Horn died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 63.

Mrs. Horn was born in Port Gibson. She lived in Texas for many years before making her home in Vicksburg. She was a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Calvin and Annie Johnson Towne.

Survivors include her husband, William J. Horn of Vicksburg; three daughters, Audrey Peoples, Gloria Lee Miller and Nancy Ann Wooten, all of Vicksburg; two sons, William Horn of Utica and Jimmy Horn of Clear Lake, Texas; one brother, William W, Towne of Vicksburg; two sisters, Evelyn Jean Lewis of Redwood and Mary Jewel Webb of Vicksburg; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Loraine Lowery officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 this evening and from noon Tuesday until the hour of services.

Pallbearers will be Richard Horn, John Horn, David Green, B.J. Ross, Chris Ross and Shallar Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Gentry and Charlie Peoples.

Thomas Blanchard Huff

FORT WORTH, Texas – Thomas Blanchard Huff died Monday, April 11, 2005, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was 89.

Mr. Huff was born in New Orleans to Myra Clark Gaines Mazerat and Watson Huff. He retired to Slidell, La., where he lived for 10 years, then moved to Fort Worth two years ago.

He was a gunnery sergeant in the Army in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He had worked for the railroad, managed apartments and was proprietor of Huff’s Hardware. He was a member of AmVets, VFW Post 7194, the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and the Timberwolves, his infantry division.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Rice Huff.

Survivors include two daughters, Tomi Huff of Fort Worth and Ann Meier Klees of Tampa, Fla.; one son, James Meier of Covington, La.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and other relatives, including Marian Love Phillips, Laura Love Ables and Marion Edward Love Jr., all of Vicksburg.

A memorial service was Saturday at Holy Angels Convent in New Orleans.

Burial followed at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Terry M. Kleinman

Terry M. Kleinman died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 82.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Kleinman owned and operated Kleinman Welding. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie S. Kleinman; his parents, William M. and Olivia M. Kleinman; a brother, Bill Kleinman; and a sister, Clara Malueg.

Survivors include one son, Larry M. Kleinman of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Linda K. Goode of Vicksburg; a brother, Louis U. Kleinman of Homer, La.; a sister, Mary B. Hodge of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Chrissy Raney of Vicksburg and Warren Kleinman and Jeffrey Kleinman, both of Austin; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall with Brother Kenneth Beard Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home of Vicksburg.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Raney, Warren Kleinman, Jeffrey Kleinman, Kenny Kleinman, Donnie Kleinman, Terry Gene Kleinman and Greg Hodge.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hodge, Louis Hodge, Johnny Hodge and Ronnie Kleinman.

Marcia Hope Coffey Morgan

Mrs. Marcia Hope Coffey Morgan died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at her residence in Vicksburg. She was 100.

She was the daughter of the late Elmer Ivan and Lola Edna Oldaker Coffey.

Mrs. Morgan was born in Wellman, Iowa, and had lived in Chicago, Vicksburg, Syracuse, N.Y.; and Chapel Hill, N.C.

She moved back to Vicksburg in 1999. Mrs. Morgan acted, danced and sang in theatrical productions and acted in radio in Chicago. Later, she enjoyed writing short stories and poetry in addition to being a housewife. She was compassionate, making a point of helping others throughout her life.

She is survived by a daughter, Marcia Mary Morgan Qasim of Vicksburg; a son, William Robert Morgan of Syracuse, N.Y.; a brother, Dr. James Coffey of Emmetsburg, Iowa; a sister, Diana Halda of Washington, Iowa; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Morgan; three sisters, Helen Grass, Kathleen Morrison and Jean Coffey; and three brothers, Max Coffey, Hubert Coffey and Francis Coffey.

Mrs. Morgan donated her body to the University of Mississippi Medical School at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
