St. Aloysius has changed the date of its season opener against Cathedral, coach Jim Taylor said.

The game, originally scheduled for Aug. 26 in Natchez, will now be played on Thursday, Aug. 25. The location and 7:30 p.m. starting time have not been changed.

Taylor said Cathedral requested the move for financial reasons. There are several other games in Natchez that night, and Taylor said Cathedral officials figured they could draw more fans by moving the game to Thursday.

Taylor added that he would likely make the same request next year, when St. Al hosts the rivalry game.

“I agreed because we’re probably going to play up here on Thursday next year because of the Red Carpet Bowl,” Taylor said.
