Elva Pierce Abbott
Elva Pierce Abbott, 95, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at the Claiborne County Nursing Center in Port Gibson. Mrs. Abbott was a native of McBride, Miss., and lived in Pattison for 40 years before moving to Port Gibson in 1980.
Through her adult years she served in a number of occupations, but will be most remembered for her years as a caregiver for many families. She was an avid gardener, she will also be remembered for her wonderful baking and her love for others.
She was preceded by her husband, Thomas Vernie Abbott; a daughter, Sally A. Boren; and two sisters and three brothers. She was a member of Port Gibson Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Port Gibson. Burial will be at McBride Cemetery in McBride.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Abbott is survived by her son, Billy Abbott of Collins, Miss.; three granddaughters, Brenda Roberts and husband, Jeff, and Debby Grammer and husband, Gary, all of Port Gibson, and Becki Boren of Vicksburg; and two great-grandchildren, John and Allen Cassell, both of Vicksburg.
Pallbearers will be Allen Cassell, Jason Cassell, Gary Grammer, Jeff Roberts, Justin Hill, Jimmy Cassell and Earl Loyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Cupit, Terry Miles, Chris Dunn, Dr. David Headley, Camelia Home Health Care staff, Whitney Doiron and the Claiborne County Nursing Center staff.

Rosie Lee Bell
Rosie Lee Bell died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Miller Coffey; two sisters, Ruth Wellons and Sylvia Coffee; two brothers, Carter B. Coffee and Harrie Coffee; a son, Charles Edward Bell; and a daughter, Geraldine Bell.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie Bell of Vicksburg; one son, Edward Charles “E.C.” Bell of Jackson; four daughters, Patricia Gray of Southfield, Mich., Mary Ann Bell-Jones of Jacksonville, Fla., Geraldine Bell of Vicksburg and Dalphiney Bell-Clemons of Clinton; four brothers, James W. “Johnnie” Coffee of Port Gibson, Melvin Coffee of Leland, Leonard Coffee of Vicksburg and Charles Coffey of Matterson, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Vicksburg with the Rev. Charles Boykins officiating. Burial will follow at the Bell Family Cemetery in the Willows community near Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 4 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Rosary and visitation will follow from 6 until 7 p.m. at the church.
Adam Christopher Miles
Adam Christopher Miles died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005. He was 21.
Mr. Miles was a native of Vicksburg. He attended Warren Central High School and was employed in the construction industry. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Miles Sr.; and his grandfather, William H. Miles.
Survivors include his mother, Susan P. Uzzle of Vicksburg; three sisters, Jennifer Miles of St. Martinsville, La., Rebecca Terry and Elizabeth Miles, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Charles E. Miles Jr. of Vicksburg and Rickey Shaw Miles of Dalton, Ga.; and other relatives.
A private memorial service will be under the direction of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.
Tashiba Marie Williams
Services for Tashiba Marie Williams will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Burnell Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Miss Williams died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 24.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Harrison and Fannie Williams.
Survivors include her parents, Calvin Kidd Sr. of Milwaukee and Beatrice Williams of Vicksburg; one brother, Calvin Kidd Jr. of Milwaukee; two sisters, Jessica Williams of Vicksburg and Quneisha Kidd of Milwaukee; her paternal grandparents, Annie Mae Horton of Vicksburg and Joseph Horton of Edwards; and other relatives, including Fannie Williams of Vicksburg, an aunt who reared her.
