Laura Brown Chambers died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 79.

Mrs. Chambers was a member of Holly Grove M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Chambers.

Survivors include three daughters, Martha Walker and Shirley Chambers, both of Vicksburg, and Jennie Jones of Terry; four sons, John Chambers Jr. of Inglewood, Calif., Eugene Chambers Sr. of Pearl, Freddie Chambers of Jackson and Melvin Chambers of Clinton; one sister, Annie Armstrong of Vicksburg; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Mary Emma Woods and the Nash family of Port Gibson.

Lakewood Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
