Paul Jue.
Paul Jue was born Sept. 18, 1967, in Greenville, Miss., and went to be with God on Jan. 11, 2006, due to complications of diabetes.
Paul grew up in Hollandale, Miss., with his brother, Glenn Jue, and his sister, Ann Jue Hairston. He was reared by his late parents, Don Jue and Kam Wong Jue, spending his early years as a youngster working alongside his siblings in the family grocery business in downtown Hollandale. He was known for his ready smile and warm reception to all who frequented the family store. He loved to fish with his family, to play baseball, and was an avid sports fan.
Like many of his large extended family in the Delta, he graduated in 1985 from Arcola’s Deer Creek School. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1990 with a degree in business. Paul had opportunities to pursue a career in business away from his home, but his heart was in Hollandale working with his father in the family business. Paul returned home and took over the family grocery, continuing on until declining economic conditions resulted in closure of the grocery in 2000.
Paul gained employment in the gaming business at Vicksburg after closing the grocery. He continued to care for his ailing father despite the long commutes to and from work, until his father’s passing in 2004. Paul relocated to Vicksburg and was associated with Ameristar Casino at the time of his death.
Paul will be remembered for his commitment to caring for his father, for his smile that welcomed all he encountered, and for his willingness to help anyone who asked.
He leaves behind his longtime companion, Angie Williams of Vicksburg. He will be missed by his brother, Glenn Jue, Glenn’s wife Julie, and nieces Emily and Amanda, all of Houston, Texas. He will also be missed by his sister, Ann Jue Hairston, her husband John, and nieces Taylor and Reagan, all of Gulfport, Miss. He is fondly remembered by his large family of uncles, aunts, cousins and the many friends he made while in Hollandale, Starkville and Vicksburg.
Paul will be remembered by his friends in Vicksburg at a visitation on Saturday, Jan. 14, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Ave. His funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at Boone-Wells Funeral Services in downtown Greenville. Paul will be interred at the Greenville Chinese Cemetery with his parents and many family members.
