Services for Johnnie Lee Shorter were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the James H. Cole Home for Funerals in Detroit with the Rev. Henry McNeal Jr., officiating.

Mr. Shorter died Jan. 9, 2006, in Michigan. He was 56.

Mr. Shorter was born in Vicksburg and was a member of Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church. He was employed at the Chrysler Corporation for more than 33 years before retiring in 2002.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vertis and Hattie C. Shorter.

Mr. Shorter is survived by his wife of 36 years, Bernice &#8220Connie” Shorter; a son, Preston Shorter; a daughter, Dewan Shorter; three grandchildren; three brothers, Vertis Shorter, Percy Shorter and John Patrick Shorter, all of Vicksburg; and three sisters, Francis Jones of Aurora, Ill., Vera Wells and Theresa Edwards, both of Vicksburg.

Bernice Josephine Brichetto Zawadzki.

Bernice Josephine Brichetto Zawadzki died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. She was 90.

Mrs. Zawadzki lived most of her life in Chicago and was a resident of The Rose Garden at The Orchard in Ridgeland. She was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Chicago.

Ms. Zawadzki was preceded in death by her parents, John George and Mayme Angelo Brichetto; a brother, John Dave Brichetto; and a sister, Marie Brichetto Nutt.

She is survived by a brother, Ted Brichetto of Las Vegas; seven nieces, including Patty Baldwin of Vicksburg; and one nephew.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Chicago with Pfaff Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Williams Vaughn.

Services for Hazel Williams Vaughn will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Jefferson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church from 6 until 7 tonight.

Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at her home. She was 83.

Mrs. Vaughn retired as a custodian at the Warren County Courthouse and was a member of Bethlehem M.B. Church.

In addition to her parents, John and Josephine Turner Williams, Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Vaughn; a brother, Leonard F. Williams; and a sister, Mable Williams.

Mrs. Vaughn is survived by a son, John W. Vaughn of Vicksburg; six daughters, Jennifer Blakley of Riverside, Calif., Alice Shelton of San Diego, Calif., Carolyn Vaughn of Memphis and Claudette Vaughn, Christine Smothers and Gwendolyn Williams, all of Vicksburg; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
