Katilyn Rozanna Bailey.

ROLLING FORK – Katilyn Rozanna Bailey, the infant daughter of Michael Bailey of Vicksburg and Amber Redmon of Rolling Fork, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Quitaris Bailey of Vicksburg; paternal grandmother, Alice Bailey of Vicksburg; and maternal grandmother, Kathy Redmon of Rolling Fork.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Chapel Cemetery in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Elijah Eason officiating.

Visitation will be at 6 tonight at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

John B. Palmerton.

John B. Palmerton, 64, of Vicksburg, formerly of Springfield, Mo., died at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center on Feb. 15, 2006, of cancer.

John was born May 8, 1941, in Springfield, Mo., to Roger and Corrine French Palmerton, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Hillcrest High School and received a degree in physics from the University of Missouri at Rolla. He moved to Vicksburg and joined the Corps of Engineers at Waterways Experiment Station in 1967, and received his master’s degree in engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1971.

He was married for 38 years to Karen Allen of St. Louis, Mo., who also preceded him in death. John retired from WES in 1997 and was the owner of Geosynthetic Applications Simulations. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Vicksburg, where he sang in the choir and played handbells. He played violin with the St. Joseph, La., symphony orchestra and was active in other community organizations.

Survivors include a son, John Allen Palmerton and wife, Angela, of Madison, Miss; two daughters, Diana Howell and husband, John, of Jackson, Miss., and Lesley Dill and husband, Wayne, of Ridgeland, Miss.; four grandchildren, Haley Iva Palmerton, Walker Cole Palmerton, Harrison Wells Palmerton and Payton Alexander Dill; one brother, Fred Palmerton and wife, Rae Jean, of Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Ann Pemstein and husband, Ron, of Tucson, Ariz., Mary White and husband, John, of Independence, Mo., and Jo Lynne Palmerton of Springfield, Mo.; one uncle, Earl French Jr. and wife, Donna, of Anaheim, Calif.; and a host of friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg with services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Glenwood with Dr. John G. McCall and Dr. Matt Buckles officiating.

John will be remembered for his generosity and wonderful sense of humor, and for his devotion to his three children.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Vicksburg or to the American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers will be Larry Daggett, Travis Daggett, Wayne Dill, Jack Fowler, John Howell, Darren Miller, Ron Pemstein and Murray Shugars.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Hess and Dr. Jerry Rankin.

August Edward Pistole.

NEWELLTON – August Edward Pistole died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Tensas Care and Rehabilitation Center in Newellton. He was 81.

Mr. Pistole was born in Brookhaven and and had lived in Newellton about 10 years. He was a retired building contractor.

He is survived by a brother, Charles Hugo Pistole of Hernando, Fla.

Services were today at Legion Cemetery in Newellton with the Rev. J. Fulton McGraw. Burial was under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral home of Tallulah.

Odell Smith.

Odell Smith died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 52.

Mr. Smith was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Johnnie Smith Mitchell.

Survivors include one daughter, Catina Sims of Vicksburg; two brothers, Robert Lee Mitchell and Roger Lee Mitchell, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Annie Mae Allen and Barbara Lee Mitchell, both of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Shiloh M.B. Church with the Rev. Willie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
